Saints requested to interview Bills OC Joe Brady (21 Viewers)

Yes , let's hire a guy who's only success was with the best college offense and QB maybe ever an was not even the playcaller there for ONE YR.
It's crazy that LSU needed an extra game to break those offensive records...*runs out* lol
A guy who bombed when he didn't have elite talent.
Let's put this in it's proper perspective; the 2020 Carolina Panthers had 4 players with over 1000 yards of total offense and lost 8 games by 8 points or less. With his first NFL OC job, it was a learning experience but the truth is, if Teddy B and Joe Brady stayed in Carolina another season, they would have made some noise. Still hate the way that Teddy B was scapegoated there....
Then goes and takes over a offense with maybe the best if not one of the top 3 QBs in the league.
And making the offense better by relying on that "top 3" QB's arm less than anyone before him. Buffalo is a run first offense...

A guy that Teddy Bridgewater said didn't even practice RZ during the week in Car.
But I do believe that he learned from this. If you got back and listen to what Teddy said, he said "for Joe Brady's growth."

Sorry I want a guy that takes less talent and has them overachieving. He's not ready IMHO. And I'm a LSU guy but I don't see everything through purple and gold glasses
Again, without CMC, the 2020 Panthers had FOUR players with over 1k yards of total offense. That wasn't done before him and it wasn't done after him. This seasons Bills with an MVP candidate can't even accomplish that with an extra game (which actually points to how good Teddy B was at quarterbacking.) 4 seasons ago was his first time as an OC and Teddy B laid it out for him. I don't know what you use as the basis of him not being ready but you are not looking at the totality of that 2020 season. Yes, the red zone and 2-minute offense was bad but that was then. Believing he can't grow in 4 seasons is wild, especially when the offense he ran in Carolina was pretty potent, outside of the RZ, without their franchise player.

In 2020 he produced a Carolina offense with four different players reaching over 1k yards from scrimmage with Teddy Bridgewater running the show. And the only player of that group doing anything meaningful in the league today is DJ Moore. The other three skill players? Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel, and Mike Davis.

I think that qualifies for doing a lot with little talent. I’m also not an LSU fan, so it’s not a Homer opinion lol.
I didn't even see this post but this actually shows how good Teddy B was at QB. He got scapegoated in Carolina but with Teddy B leading the ship and without CMC, they had 2 1k yards receivers and 1 with 850. I always say that one thing that we never talk about when it comes to evaluating QB is who actually elevates the talent around them. But that's another topic....lol

Teddy B was definitely underrated.

So, you don't want a coach who won't start a QB who shouldn't be starting? Am I understanding that right? I don't see a problem with that.
I don’t think Rattler should be starting. A new coach will want a reliable qb under center to begin his tenure. Expecting a second year player with a lot question marks to be your starter is not a recipe for success. Remember he was third string behind Jake Haener after camp and preseason games. Do you think Jake Haener is a really good qb? If not then that should tell you something about Rattler’s ability at this point in his career. I’m pulling for him, but I’d like to see the team bring in a top tier young qb to compete for number 2 behind Carr.

He might not have a choice. We know Loomis is making a demand on the next HC to keep certain coaches. A lot of the guys he's interviewing specialize in QB development. Theres reason to suspect that Loomis may also put the stipulation on the next HC to put some focus on developing Rattler
I hope he brings in another young qb to compete for the position. Rattler could develop but I think he a couple of seasons away from being a starter.

its really not such a weakness. We have two up-and-coming quality tackles proving their worth keeping. One of the best centers in the NFL. An average right guard and a below average left guard. Just because we could use an upgrade, specifically at left guard doesn't make the unit a weakness. What we need is a coach that puts an emphasis on better execution and game planning.
It's not like the o line coach we have now doesn't have skins on the wall.

Thing is there aren’t any top tier young QBs to bring in this draft.

Everyone seems to be fixated on the shiny object.... offense...aka Joe Brady...that's Kool, but remember he has no head coaching experience...none!! Football is more than offense. Oh, and I'm a LSU fan also.

...

Similar to David Shaw, worst case scenario is you get to pick someone’s brain about your team for a day or two. Maybe something profound gets said that helps you along the interview process and/or you can pass it on to whoever you do end up hiring.
That's assuming the Saints FO has people who can discern and apply such "profound statements..".

A good coach can find talent, look at San Fran with the qb roster they had. Taysom was a backup at Green Bay, Tom Brady was a backup for New England. Going into next season with Rattler as even your number 2 is scary. I would prefer JW backing up Carr, he may be inconsistent but he can put together some good games.
