Last I saw, less than 25% of third round picks become starters in the NFL.

I think the fourth round pick starter rate was something like 7-10%.
Yeah make sense. Which is why I only consider 1-2 round to be busts if they don’t pan out. I shouldn’t have put Miller on the list.

I get that but players who produced in camp getting cut over players who are only around because of draft status isn’t right. Thats what separates the good teams from the bad.

Good teams don't keep 2 place kickers on their 53 man roster.

Smyth likely ends up on the PS with the International Player exemption.

Beyond that, Payton is solid as your #4 DE. Foskey? I'd cut him, but that still could happen.

Not saying keep two kickers. Grupe shouldn’t be on the team either.

For me personally, I still expect at least a serviceable depth player in the third round. The fourth round and beyond is where things really just fall off a cliff and the difference between being a fourth round pick and a UDFA is splitting hairs.

So are you saying that Smyth should have been the Kicker? I would be fine with that, but the truth is that Grupe was okay last year, out kicked Smyth by a bit in camp, and Smyth only attempted one Kick in a preseason game. Last week was his chance to win the job but he had a tight groin. Hard to make a guy your kicker who has only tried one kick in an NFL game, which was a preseason game, only tried one kick in a stadium with people in it, and didn't kick in college.

But, I could see them singing a vet kicker if the right guy becomes available.

This isn't the final version of the 53 man roster and it's likely not going to be the 53 man roster on opening day. It's almost certainly not he same 53 man roster we will see on the Tuesday after the first game.
