Sometimes the right fit can change everything. Just ask Drew. I’m willing to give VJ the chance.Well, there is a serious thought in this opine. How often does hiring another team’s throwoffs really benefit our team? On the other hand, drafting, developing, and resigning our own guys seems to me a better route to take especially in the long run.
Keep in mind a team always tries to retain their best guys.
Back in 2006, the rebuild through free agency did work especially when we snatched Drew Brees. Even then he was considered damaged goods.
Sometimes a player doesn’t fit your team then goes to another team and balls out and gets an int in the Super Bowl and signs a big contract.Sometimes the right fit can change everything. Just ask Drew. I’m willing to give VJ the chance.
They are keeping a lot of players, but they have overhauled the coaching staff who will overhaul the offensive and defensive playbook and playcalling. They are not "running it back," just because they are keeping a lot of the players. This team probably got .3 better in FA. At this point, all Mickey is telling me is that they truly do think the '24 season was a fluke and are heavily banking on a new coaching staff to get more out of what they mostly have already. Even with Reid as an upgrade over Harris, you're mostly running this back with underperforming players on a defense that was mostly healthy last year.
Payton was able to get production from Denzel Mims last season. Mims had significant playing time and made several impactful plays. Payton has a keen eye for identifying players' skill sets and how to implement them in his offense to address any weaknesses.Sometimes a player doesn’t fit your team then goes to another team and balls out and gets an int in the Super Bowl and signs a big contract.
I also remember Taysom having a fumbling issue a couple of years ago.
From a size speed standpoint he reminds me a lot of Devery Henderson hopefully the light comes in for him
If you're talking about Marvin Mims Jr who Payton drafted two years ago in the second round, it's not really comparable.Payton was able to get production from Denzel Mims last season. This allows a one-dimensional player to potentially carve out a 10-year career under Payton's tutelage, and we hope that Moore possesses a similar skill set in identifying players.
My mistake, I may have been thinking of the former Jets receiver that bounced around a few teams, I thought he found a home in Denver with the Bronco's.If you're talking about Marvin Mims Jr who Payton drafted two years ago in the second round, it's not really comparable.
I like that idea, because he's got speed, quickness and supposedly really good vision and balance on contact. If that's true, then I think he's the perfect backup ups specifically to Kamara. Meaning if Kamara is out with injury or needs a breather, they can use Jones the same way they use Kamara. Not saying he'd be as good, but good enough to keep the offensive game plan rolling without Kamara.FWIW, Underhill wrote in his article today that they will start Jones out as a RB and see how it goes.

I think Edwards-Helaire has similar ability if my memory of him at LSU is correct. I think the RB unit is in good shape at the moment going into the draft. I don't think they have to reach for a RB.
That's what I mean. If a RB is the BPA, they can take him and make the RB group even better, but if there isn't a RB that is BPA at any of their picks, they don't have to reach for one.It won't be a reach when Jeanty is selected at 9.
