Saints sign WR Brandin Cooks to a 2-year, $13 million deal (93 Viewers)

I'm pretty sure every WR except Smith blocked on Philly's offense.

Yeah, but that wasn't really Moore's offense. It was significantly adjusted to fit into Philly's long time power running game.

And again, all WRs need to block to some extent, it's just more important in an outside zone run scheme. Maybe Moore is going to significantly reduce those run plays?

I like the reunion

We needed some Olave insurance and a veteran in the WR room.

The money is fairly reasonable and about right for what tier of WR cooks is in these days.

This makes Tyler Warren(or Tet) very interesting at 9 for sure as either one complements these guys pretty well.

Cooks fits. Carr’s best skill is deep ball accuracy. We now have 3 experienced WRs who are deep threats. Cooks and Shaheed will push safeties deep. It will create light boxes for running the ball and intermediate openings in the passing game.

Why though? Not every team has a big X. It would be cool to have if the right person was available, but plenty of offenses function fine without it.
I think what they mean to say is we need a possession/contested catch WR. Generally those guys are X receivers. Unless the plan is to use Juwan Johnson more

Who knows, Moore doesn't really have a offense since he's adapted his offense to the personnel and strengths of the team.

We are more of a blank slate for him, so he may be building his offense now.

He's benefited from being a coach's son, a QB in college and NFL, experienced many different systems and had coached different styles of QBs.

It's interesting to see what he's doing though.

Juwan Johnson can serve as the Big X. He did it towards the end of last year.

I've been a proponent of converting him back to WR to play that role, but he can do it as a TE as well.

We need big a few big targets, but CKM could be using TEs as those targets.

Means is big at 6'2" 225lbs and crazy athletic so he could be the guy as well.

This makes me wonder about Olave's future with the team...

I would hope we’d have another veteran brought in if that’s the case. Or at least have plans to add another really good receiving TE.

Even if we drafted a guy, do you really want to role with Shaheed, Cooks, rookie at WR next year?
