Stram had the equivalent of Tepper for an owner , only Mecom was worse. He didn't give Hank enough time, another yr or 2 and we would have been the thick of things. Ditka got the credit for Buddy Ryans SB, it was his D that won itGreat post. Some people just don’t understand how hard of an accomplishment winning the SB is.
Having a great team that’s consistently in the playoffs and competing is the goal. Winning the Super Bowl is the dream.
I’d be curious to know how many SB winning head coaches have gone to other teams and have flat-out failed. I bet that list is fairly short.
I know Hank Stram and Mike Ditka happened to be two of them here due to circumstances, but I bet most of these guys are going to other teams and immediately demonstrating that they know how to put together a winning program and at least get those teams competing at a high level fairly quickly.
Guys that have won Super Bowls are the real deal.
