Update Saints will interview Mike McCarthy in person during this week, Jan. 20-Jan. 25 [Underhill: McCarthy would have to be the current favorite] (52 Viewers)

Great post. Some people just don’t understand how hard of an accomplishment winning the SB is.

Having a great team that’s consistently in the playoffs and competing is the goal. Winning the Super Bowl is the dream.

I’d be curious to know how many SB winning head coaches have gone to other teams and have flat-out failed. I bet that list is fairly short.

I know Hank Stram and Mike Ditka happened to be two of them here due to circumstances, but I bet most of these guys are going to other teams and immediately demonstrating that they know how to put together a winning program and at least get those teams competing at a high level fairly quickly.

Guys that have won Super Bowls are the real deal.
Stram had the equivalent of Tepper for an owner , only Mecom was worse. He didn't give Hank enough time, another yr or 2 and we would have been the thick of things. Ditka got the credit for Buddy Ryans SB, it was his D that won it

Yep. I was going to add exactly what you stated here but didn’t want to make the post any longer. Those were the circumstances I was referring to. Guys like those two are anomalies that just so happened to occur in New Orleans, and I am sure the naysayers will point to it.

Based on what?

What if Mickey and the group doing the interviews think the team would quickly “check out” on Brady or that he would struggle mightily to motivate a room full of millionaire alphas, especially after seeing that sort of affect with DA?

You’re not there in the room. The only thing you have to go on is possible MVP Josh Allen and the Bills’ offensive stat sheet and Brady happening to be calling the plays of one of if not the greatest, most talented college offenses ever assembled.

There’s more to making a HC hire than that.

Don’t be surprised if and when Brady has gone another cycle without being hired to lead an organization. He just may not be the guy you think he is.
Or that Brady just is not ready. He jumped at the Car OC job right after the LSU natty. He didn't even get some play calling experience when he bombs he takes a job being a QB coach a position he never played and coaching an already elite QB. Then when Dorsey get canned to appease the folks that wanted McDermott's head naturally they promote the QB coach. Brady's tweaks for Allen? Run the ball more

Brady seems to put the cart before the horse. He takes the promotion before he gains enough experience to handle the job at hand. My guess is he'll do the same thing with the HC position, strike while the iron is hot and not worry if the iron is hot enough to be a success

Agreed. I think he could very well be brilliant and I don’t know whether or not he’s ready at this stage maturity/leadership wise, but as each hiring cycle passes without him being hired despite his on-paper accomplishments tells me he’s possibly not.

We have to trust that the guys doing the interviewing are evaluating that. If I am interviewing someone for a HC, I know I would be.

I would literally be wanting the guy I am interviewing to be imposing in that setting and to even make ME feel somewhat small and like I am being led to a degree, and I am not sure if Brady is that guy.

I mean, people made fun of DA’s speeches the last few years…what if we are sensing that one of the fan favorite candidates like Brady would have the same delivery, and we have placed a premium on fixing that?

What if we have contacted coaches he’s coached with and players he’s coached and have come away not impressed with what they had to say, even if they didn’t even trash him.

We just don’t know.
