Saints will interview Vikings DBs coach Daronte Jones for Defensive Coordinator [on February 15] (4 Viewers)

A few notes about the Vikings defense:
  • Lead the league in use of dime packages (28%)
  • Second highest use of Cover 2 (28%) and fourth highest of Quarters (21%)
  • Lead in MOFO coverages (55%)
  • Lead in blitz rate (49%)
Several of those tendencies are similar to what the Saints did last year, with the exception being the Saints used a lot more Cover 1 (30% vs 9%) and less blitzing (22%).
How much Quarters did we play?

Worth a read, ultimately if we hire Staley we absolutely have to pair him w/ an excellent secondary coach. It’s an absolute must.

That makes sense. It seems like Moore's success a QB and OC was being able to research and recognize weaknesses in coverages and exploiting them. I'm optimistic that he won't choose someone who will put the defense at a disadvantage with their alignments and responsibilities. Still, fingers crossed.

At his age, 3-4 might fit a guy like Cam Jordan better. The job of outside containment shifts a bit more toward the LB’s. If Cam plays on the outside of the DL, he could potentially be effective for another season or two. I’d really like to see him retire as a Saint.
I've been thinking the same thing. The only part of Jordan's game that seems to have dropped off is his ability to maintain the edge against faster RB's and QB's. Take that responsibility away from him and the rest of his game is still solid. If teams can't double team him, then he's still very good.
