My favorite this week has to be the Irishman with his sign. He's so IRISH! LOL.

If you want to see all the week's cartoons anytime, Shadeaux, Daryl Cagle at MSNBC chronicles them.

Here's one just for you:

Here we are, three weeks into June and I'm willing to bet, before I even look, that gas prices are the #1 item in this week's editorial cartoons, with the presidential election at #2.

First cartoon on Daryl Cagle's webpage, yep!

The call for Congress to end the ban on offshore drilling has gotten a lot of attention this week.

The "screwed" theme is popular this week!

Senator McCain's support of the measure, although keeping the ban on drilling in the ANWR, was sure to draw a shot or two.

Democrats who sharply criticized Senator McCain for not accepted public campaign funding were made to look really dumb when this week, when Senator Obama did an about face and announced he wasn't going to accept public funding either.

WINNER...this cartoon gets my vote as the best of the week, the one that uses satire to most accurately express pulic sentiment in the nation in the middle of June, 2008.

And let's not forget the floods in Iowa...

It's the last Saturday in June already? Boy, that was quick. After spending $50 on gas last night for the same amount I got for $30 just a few months ago, it wasn't hard to figure out what the main topic would be in the editorial cartoons of the day.

This week also marked the passing of George Carlin. Many cartoonists paid him tribute. Most of them had him arriving at the gates of heaven to find a NO PROFANITY sign and George responding with the seven words...well, not the words themselves but @#$%^ instead.

This one was a bit different. If you've never heard Carlin's routine about "STUFF" go find it. It's hilarious.

On the campiagn front, there were lots of cartoons that were critical of Senator Obama for flip flopping on public campaign funding and Senator McCain flip flopping on aspects of offshore drilling. This cartoon combined both.

John Darkow, The Columbia Daily Tribune, Missouri

More cartoonists are taking open shots at Senator Obama now. His campaign seal, which bore a striking resemblence to the actual presidential seal, drew such sharp criticism that it was dropped from the campaign.

Meanwhile, skepticism over Senator McCain's proposal for a $300 million prize for the development of car batteries drew some significant flak.

Notice, with Obama, the cartoonists go after his ears. With McCain, it's the jowels.
