A dozen cartoonists couldn't help but chuckle when Starbucks announced it will close 600 stores...

North Korea this week blew up its own nuclear reactor, renounced research for nuclear weapons and quickly recieved shipments of US food aid.

Meanwhile, the word is getting around overseas. This one is from Bulgaria. Bulgaria? Seriously?

Winner: I think this New Jersey cartoonist best sums up the sentiments of the Nation on this 4th of July weekend, 2008.

Did you just give obama the Bird?

The bird? Me? No. Editorial cartoonists tend to be equal opportunity satirists. They'll skewer anybody. These are merely a weekly sampling from across the nation and around the world.

If you want to see all of them, try www.cagle.msnbc.com.

Winner. Of all the Obama vs Clinton editorial cartoons, I liked this one the best. It says it all.

Chan Lowe, The South Florida Sun Sentinel

I saw this cartoon in the Times-Picayune or somewhere, and I still don't get it. What does it say? All I see is a stupid joke about Hillary Clinton standing in front of an Obama Poster. It's funny; it's not even clever.

WINNER...this cartoon gets my vote as the best of the week, the one that uses satire to most accurately express pulic sentiment in the nation in the middle of June, 2008.

Rex Babin, California -- The Sacramento Bee

Yes, it's accurate, if the cartoonist were referring to the environmentalist nutjobs who brought us to this point with leftist over-regulation of natural resources through Congressional lobbying.

Dittos Jerryrip. What is it gonna take to get those idiots in the Senate and in Congress to pass a bill allowing the US to drill for it's own oil? The stupid premise that we cannot drill our way out of this mess may be the single stupidest thing I've ever heard. Simple Supply and Demand. LET'S GET TO DRILLING!!!!!!!!!!

That's the point Jerry.

She just would not accept it and go away.

Read (try to) the banner pasted on the podium behind her head. It says the first AA nominee for a political party in American history...and VIOLA, she shows her head into the camera. Indicative of the primary over the past several months when there was empirically no way she could win the nomination.

Here we are in the second weekend in July already! The primary topic of most editorial cartoonists today is Sentor Obama's (alleged) move toward the center and Jesse Jackon's threat to cut off Obama's anatomy!

Let's do Jesse's gaffe first. It's funnier!

Now, the #1 topic most repeated topic, Senator Obama's (alleged) move to the center.

Now, let's look at Senator McCain, whose campaign is suffering in-fighting and one staff shakeup after another...oh, he says he's going to balance the budget in 4 years AND stay in Iraq. This should be fun!

And, of course, there's the subject of gas prices along with the demise of the SUV and a jab or two at president Bush about that topic.
