Wondering what others think on him picking the Panthers to win the division.

he took them for the Superbowl in the beginning, so i think that he is hoping for them to pull it off so he does not look bad

I know there are alot of Jake fans on here...but to be honest...he hasn't been playing all that well lately. He should have had two more interceptions tonight. You notice how he just throws the ball up for grabs so often? It's amazing how Smith makes plays on them. The Panthers are a one man team...cove Smith and they are punchless. I realize thats easier said than done...but double cover Smith and take your chances with the other guys. It's just like Atlanta's passing game....stop Crumpler and you stop the Falcons.

I agree...............

He may be right. No one knows. The Panthers are only one game behind us.

They have all the pieces to win the diviision.

Sure, our offense is awesome, but I fear our lack of defense has been exposed.

7 games left and Carolina is one game behind us. I don't fault anybody for picking Carolina. They've got the history and experience to pull it off.

They were awful last night. Delhomme looks like a backup. Their defense looks vulnerable. Gradkowski had three shots down the field for touchdowns he just couldn't put the ball in the receivers hands. DeShaun Foster has looked woeful and DeAngelo Williams hasn't adapted well. He either gets nothing or 20+ yards. I'm not willing to write them off, especially as they should beat St. Louis and Washington the next two weeks but they do not have the look of an elite team. They really messed up letting Will Witherspoon go and signing Dan Morgan instead

They are not as good as he wants them to be but what can you say they came out flat. They better hope they do not loose Peppers or Smith because they are the only 2 reason they are winning games

He is trying to stick with his original pick and just hoping for the best.

I think that's exactly right. A lot of people were expecting the Panthers to be "balanced" and really represent the class of the NFC. So they picked them in the preseason. Now, they're just holding out, hoping the Panthers come together and make a run at it, so they can say they were right from the beginning.

I think it has more to do with that, than Salisbury actually thinking they're the best NFC team right now.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Sean Salisbury is the biggest idiot blowhard, spare former NFL QB who never was, and now thinks he is god's gift to sport analysis, that has ever lived. The guy is wrong all the time. I don't have one iota of concern over what he says.

I don't think he's "holding out hope" at all.

The Bears are still suspect because of Grossman. I never thought the Giants were that good. Besides, NYG's defense has been crushed by injuries (Strahan, Arrington).

The Panthers are 1 game behind us and we haven't shown that our defense can stop anybody.

Remember guys, the Panthers already beat us once.

To a 3rd party observer the Panthers aren't a bad pick. Delhomme is suspect, but Steve Smith and Deshaun Foster are proven. So is Peppers and Rucker on that D.

Not really. Their "pieces" really don't scare me that much. They have steve smith and julius peppers. Other then that noone is great. Chris Gamble is good. Jake is an average QB who is turnover prone. Their running backs are subpar. Their O line is average. Their LB's are average with dan morgan out.

I think we have just as good of a team.

OK...so if the Saints and Panthers are equal....and the Panthers have already beaten us....do you think Salisbury is an idiot for sticking with his original pick?

I think a lot of people on this thread are wearing black and gold glasses.

Our defense is not playing very well. Our linebackers and DB's are very suspect. So is the outside containment by our DL. These were all issues of concern before the season started and now they're turning out to be true.

Look....I'm not hating on us by any means. I just don't think picking the Panthers right now is such a terrible pick. Remember, they are now only one game behind us.

I'm still afraid Seattle will be peaking w/ Hasselbeck and Alexander back just in time for the playoffs.

The Panthers barely, barely beat us at home when we had a short week after the most emotional game ever on MNF. By the way MNF winners only win the next week 18% of the time anyway. We had everything going against us yet we still lead late and took them to the wire.

Not the mention this really has nothing to do with us. This is about the panthers. If we sucked I'd still say they aren't good and they aren't a SB team thsi year.

I like all the arguments but our D is not that bad. They have made the big stops in a few games this year and we all know they are not the strong point of this team. We have to find a way to nolimit the turnovers, if Brees has a ball tipped and its picked I can live with it but fumbles are unacceptable, these guys are tought how to cover up the ball when in trafic and have just been careless in the games we lost this year. I think Carolina is a good team but they do not have the ability to score like we can and with the correct scheme and one or two players can be stopped.
