Just watched Moore's Press Conference one more time. Now for me it's even more clear that Carr is out. He said he wants to play fast and physical football. Carr is neither fast nor physical. He tried to with his "running with the head throug the wall" kinda thing, but the only thing that's happened was a season ending injury. The more I think about it, the more it's clear to me that if he wants to play this style of football, he has to give Rattler his shot.

The only reason to keep Carr around is because you can't get rid of him that easy.

Could be totally wrong though

2023 Carr had 9 wins and 3800 yards with terrible scheme and coaching. Last year we're a couple plays away from being 4-0 and injuries/coaching killed our season. He's obviously not the long term option but I don't see why so many are in favor of tanking or taking the huge financial hit of cutting him. I say roll with Carr and over the next year or 2 decide if Spwncer is ready or if we need another option.

What most have said is that the Saints wouldn't get the cap relief until June 1st. You lose the player as soon as you make the designation, but you don't get any cap relief until June 1st. It that's accurate, the Saints would effectively not have the cap space to sign or re-sign anyone else until June 1st. I don't think players are going to wait around that long on handshake agreements before getting the security of an actual binding contract.
Not only that but we'd have to get under the cap enough to have $ to sign our draft class. If we waited till 6/1 to sign the rookies they would not be under contract and would miss the rookie mini camp
