Should Saints Trade for Davante Adams? (1 Viewer)

All jokes aside... I'd bet he's a Jet before the trade deadline.... I would love to have him here... You guys know I think we are desperately in need of a big-boy WR/TE with contested catch ability.... I just don't see us being able to get Adams for reasons too long to list.

At the time I wrote this, I was iffy about our prospects for this season. Based on what I saw the first two weeks, and the deficiencies I have seen these last two weeks, I’d be willing to throw in the chips for Adams.

We are closer than I thought we were. Adams could be the final piece for a surprise title run (along with getting McCoy healthy ASAP).

If the $ works out, if there isn’t a quality starting caliber OG or RT available for the same asking price, and if the asking price is something like a 4th this year and a 4th next year then I think we’d be idiotic to not go after him. Adams can still ball.

Olave and Sheed, though both very good, are not big bodies contested catch WRs. Over the last 2 losses where there were contested drops/break ups in the end zone, if those balls has been thrown to Adams instead, then we’re most likely a 4-0 team. We need a big bodied option downfield.

If we don’t make the trade and Olave and or Sheed are forced to miss multiple games (which is almost guaranteed to happen bc football is a rough sport) then we have no one proven to make up for their production. This trade needs to happen for us to remain contenders.

Last five years in a row he has been an 1100-1500 yard receiver. Hes better and more proven than anyone we have. He also a larger body for contested catch. We should not be throwing jump balls to shaheed in the endzone. AT Perry is a healthy scratch and can’t get on the field this year. Cedric Wilson has been mediocre through his whole career. St Brown is on practice squad. We have no one so make the trade if it’s a 3rd to 5th rounder with reworked contract. Adam’s still has some very serviceable years in him even if he wasn’t a 1000 yard receiver. We can spread the wealth and share the load.

The Raiders said yesterday, they want a 2nd and other compensation to trade him. I would offer a 2025 3rd next season and a conditional pick for 2026 season. A 2nd for a 31 yr. old receiver is too much to ask for. We need to keep most of our picks for more help next year.

Absolutely…we need to improve the line. The concern is that we simply can’t at this point. There’s nobody out there. But we could get an all pro WR possession receiver who has had tremendous success with Carr. I don’t know how we would afford him but there is no question that Adams makes the Saints better and that’s the goal. What happens when Olave or Shaheed inevitably gets hurt? Answer…we’re in big trouble. We’re about as paper thin there as OL.

I don’t think we’re looking for another receiver. We want to keep Shaheed and Olave on the field. If we wanted to upgrade a pass catcher it needs to be TE. But no upgrades are available so everyone wants another WR. Kubiak and McDaniel come from the same place and the Dolphins are doing they same thing we are.

Negative.... we don't need Adams.. If he was the final piece yea but we are more than Adans from making a playoff push... we need to save our draft picks for the next 2 or 3 drafts for a potential QB....
