Should Saints Trade for Davante Adams? (1 Viewer)

The Saints need o-line help desperately but they also need another offensive weapon and Adams is about the best that is even remotely “available”.

So if it was possible to make a trade that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg - it would be worth it just to put a shot of adrenaline back into the offense.

But as many have mentioned, what good is a WR when the QB is running for his life behind a fracture O-line?

The bottom line is we are going to have to build the line through the draft next year (it's not happening this year), so building the offense for the future with Adams makes sense.

This team isn’t going to the championship this year, or next. It still has cap issues, needs a major influx of talent on the lines, and do we really need what he brings? Would it give us enough more wins to justify adding to a cap mess?

If anything, trade for starting offensive lineman that can play multiple positions.

I think the Raiders are desperate to trade him. I wouldn’t give them higher than a fourth rounder.

I just don’t see who this big contending sure-fire championship boogeyman is in the NFC that makes people think we can’t contend, specifically with Adams potentially added.

Y’all are really that afraid of the Lions, or the banged up 49ers? Sam Darnold or Geno Smith have you shaking in your boots?

Who is it???

You forgot Baker Mayfield, lol.

It’s crazy. What else is crazy is that if Younghue Koo misses a 58 yard field goal, we are happy and probably contenders again in people’s eyes. 😂

Yup. Live and die by the field goal so many times over the years in these games

But how much future is there in a 32 year-old WR that is essentially on a one year deal?

Maybe. But if you look beyond the FG, you see that the inability to close out the Philly and Atlanta game were more or less examples of the fatal flaws in this roster. We didn't have the OL to protect Carr well enough for him to get into FG range or score a touch down in the last minute against Philly and we didn't have the pass rush to stop Philly or Atlanta on their final drives. Although I guess to be fair, the final Philly drive was more about our DBs running into each other than lack of pass rush since we were playing to contain Hurts.

Would Adams make the difference in those two games? Maybe, but I don't think it's clear that he would.

I thought that we had a pretty good WR room...

What kind of confidence are you instilling in the skilled players that we already have?? We have speed, good route running, pretty good hands, and we (I think) have a good work ethic. Why mess all that up for a guy who's going to expect x number of touches every game, because his friend is throwing the ball?

And we're supposed to give up future draft capital to do it??

I'm not sure I'd be happy with a deal if we had to even give up a two.
