Should the Saints be Sold? (2 Viewers)

If Tom Benson had not married Gayle Benson the Saints would have been long gone...

He had made it very well known that he did not believe New Orleans was a large enough market for a NFL Team and he had openly courted San Antonio, TX more than once to move the team there prior to Katrina!

His Business was incorporated in San Antonio, TX along with his adopted children.

It was after he married Gayle that his attitude towards New Orleans and Louisiana changed GREATLY!

All Saints Fans and Pelicans Fans owe this wonderful woman a huge amount of THANKS!

She really doesn't deserve some of the crap that has been posted and said about her!

Not sure about the rest of it, but there is no doubt about the bold part!

Agreed, It was San Antonio and particularly mayor Phil Hardberger who courted
the Saints after Katrina.

After Katrina when there was talk of moving to San Antonio Terry Bradshaw said he wanted to buy the team to keep it in NOLA. Of course he wouldn't be able to buy it on his own but he said he a had group ready to go.

But Mrs Benson has no thought of selling.

IF Gayle sells the team the organization will probably be sold to the Saudis and then moved to Mexico City.
So no I don't want the team sold.
Loomis needs to go, the sooner the better!

I think the elephant in the room is what happens after Ms. Gayle’s estate is executed. My understanding is it will be sold at that point and the money going to the church. A move I’m not really fond of. That’s a lot of wealth and will attract a lot of attention that won’t have the best interest of the fans in mind.
In the the back of my mind I wonder if some of those interests aren’t in play in calling the shots right now.

It takes 2 to tango...

Courtship can't happen if Benson wasn't interested in San Antonio...

is disputed in some circles as to the amount of discussions that happened between Mayor Hardberger and the New Orleans Saints. According to the San Antonio Express-News, Mayor Hardberger encouraged Saints owner Tom Benson to sue the NFL and commissioner Paul Tagliabue to try to keep the team in San Antonio permanently.[6] No lawsuit was ever filed. Hardberger hasn't given up hope on another professional sports team even though the Saints have returned to New Orleans

I have no doubt Benson had great concerns in the aftermath of Katrina, but the biggest you know what was
the San Antonio mayor.

Arnie Fielkow is why Tom Benson failed to move the team to San Antonio.

You can wish Gayle were a different kind of owner but still believe she’s probably the best owner we could hope for.

I don't think the team should be sold. But if they leave New Orleans it break my heart and I will never watch another football game again.

Anybody who thinks owners care about the fans needs talk fans in St Louis, Baltimore and Cleveland. I couldn't believe it when the Browns moved. The only way you could get a ticket to a Browns game was if somebody died. And Baltimore was the same.
