Shut up and Play (1 Viewer)

The players arguement is not valid.

During playoff games $25k is enough to get them to play...

Limited careers? a lot of Players make more in a year then I will make in my whole life and even at league minimum and a shortened career almost all players make more in an NFL career than I will in 2 life times.

Does the average Joe or Jane making 25k a year risk less? Putting in tireless overtime in a factory just to buy a ticket or turn on a TV to watch them play? I have no weight room...I have no one to rub my feet or back after a long day at work...I have no staff doctor or nutritionist to keep me fit...My work day is 8 to 12 hours 6 days a week with 15 minutes breaks after ever 4 hours of work (compared to 15 minutes at a time for four quarters of which there are TV time outs and players only play offense or defense which is only 30 minutes a game on average)... I have no house keeper to keep my kids...

You don't like your life? Trade Ya...Come be me a while and see how far you get when you go tell the boss, I want 57.5% of the profits...You'll get a big boot in the rear and join the other 10% of Americans without jobs...

I don't feel sorry for you!!!

!!!SHUT UP AND PLAY!!!

Drinking Stupid juice I see.....

!!!SHUT UP AND PLAY!!!

Why should people of skill and talent get paid like you?

Everything you just whined about with the players goes 1000 fold for owners. They make MORE than the players. They DONT have a limited career.

Yet you blame the players, not the owners?

What?

THE PLAYERS OFFERED TO KEEP THE OLD CBA. It is the OWNERS who are trying to grab MORE money. Yet you dont tell the owners to shut up and let the players play???

I'm sick of these owner defenses that are basically "I am jealous of the players."

Do you just refuse to believe that the old cba would have ended up destroying the NFL or do you just not care?

The players salaries are increasing way too rapidly. If the owners do not stop this trend they will all lose money and the NFL will go out of business. Its really not much more complex than that.

The NFL's propaganda machine has won over the weak minds I see. The players are not asking for more, the NFL is. The players did not go to the NFL asking for more than what they already receive, the NFL is asking them to take a pay cut. Its pretty simple really, Im not sure how so many could be confused by it. And if you really think ALL players in the NFL will make more in their career than you will in your life, you either dont pay attention to what some of the lowest paid players make for the 3 or 4 years they are in the league, or you work the counter at 7-11. :idunno:

And it seems you have fallen equally as hard for the players propaganda.

OK. I guess I just don't understand this whole thing.

Someone please SHOW ME HOW THE PLAYERS ARE BEING ASKED TO TAKE A PAY CUT?? PLEASE... Don't give me some bs about revenue percent here and there, lets talk PURE BRASS TAX. Dree Brees makes 10million a year, will he make any less than that?

PRO-PLAYERS - GIVE ME ONE HARD EXAMPLE WHERE ONE PLAYER WILL RECEIVE LESS MONEY THIS YEAR THAN NEXT??? IT IS NOT HAPPENING THAT WAY.

IF THE SALARY CAP INCREASES(regardless of revenue or not) HOW WILL INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS RECEIVE LESS PAY?

Hmm, someone who will get less money this year, than they did last year...

Cam Newton?

So now you are talking rookie scale? which the ACTUAL PLAYERS WANT AS WELL AS THE OWNERS??

this is not quite what Im talking about. Seriously, all of you pro-player supporters. Please explain to me in layman's terms, how any NFL player will be making less money under a new cba with a higher salary cap?

You guys love to say we are caught up in the owners media hype, but I would love some concrete evidence to support an actual pay cut, and not a perceived one!!

For all of you that started your post with insults, you wasted your time. For those of you that put logic and thought into your posts, I appeciate and enjoyed your posts no matter which side you pull for.

I would like to add if the players practiced what they preach about revenue sharing and cared so much about each other then why don't they revenue share with each other. The big money players are the main ones to benefit for any agreement not the players as a whole.

This is 100% incorrect. Players' contracts wont be renegotiated due to a new agreement which ever way it ends up. What will change will be the salary cap. The stars that are in demand will still make the big bucks, the rosters will just be filled with more minimum salary players to get under the cap. So the high profile players who are putting on the line for the players are not doing it for themselves, they will still make their money, they are doing it for all the current and future 2nd and third stringers who are the ones who will be affected most by a new agreement.

anyone got anything real to add?

I wasn't talking about anything really. Just being humorous (perhaps a failed attempt). But my take on your original question.

Players under contract won't get any less next year, or for the life of their contract for that matter. But the pool will not be as large for players not under contract, the players as a whole will lose out millions of dollars over the course of the CBA (is it really that hard to understand). I am fine with players having to pitch in if its truly necessary for the survival of the league, and the Players have stated they are too. Only problem is, they don't know if thats the case. Revenue has grown more each year, more than players costs, so until they have an idea of the rising costs the owners are talking about, its tough to agree on how much should be given back, if any.

Owners don't want to show them, and they don't have to. So the union de-certified because without that info, the would rather take their chances without a CBA.

In both of the posts above this one it appears you are assuming a smaller salary cap. This is not the case. The owners proposal has NEVER included a lower salary cap.

It includes a lower than should/would be salary cap. Players wanna know why, owners told them no, you don't need to know that. So they (the players) would rather continue without a CBA, rather than agree to a deal without information they feel crucial to their position. Is it really all that uncommon.

Why are the owners so hell bent on them being in a union anyways. Let em go to work under the agreed upon contracts the have.

Its really simple. The players as a whole are being asked to take less of a percentage of the cut. Which means a lower salary cap than the percentage they have been making. Naturally the cap increases every year because the tv revenue increases. As I said a couple of posts up, the top tier players will not be affected by a new agreement whatsoever. If you are in demand you will make your money. Who will be affected are the lower tier players, there will be more minimum salary guys on each team in order to get under the cap.

LOL at your ALLCAPS.

Again, you are slipping in that percentage thing. The owners proposal including a HIGHER salary cap. INCREASING EVERY SINGLE YEAR. In 2011 there will be more money for 53 players to split than in 2010. In 2012 there will more salary cap money for 53 players to split than in 2011.

Im still trying to see this pay cut everyone is referring to. The players have never been asked to take a pay cut. They have been asked to slow down their skyrocketing salaries.

That is not even remotely the same thing IMO.
