Six percent of people think they can beat a grizzly bear (3 Viewers)

Yea, i figure if you just wound the grizzly, that would just make him madder...
Yeah, the number of stories about someone mortally wounding a grizzly with their first shot, but still having the thing close the distance and maul them to death... no thanks.

Bear spray, irritating/overloading the bear's very acute senses, seems to be just the right amount of an annoying W.T.F. for them.

Can't lie. If a bear was on my friend in front of me I would 100% jump in and TRY to help. Also, if I was in bear country I'd have a sidearm for exactly this reason.

As someone who has researched this extensively, having hiked/fished in grizzly bear territory multiple times you couldn’t be more wrong…..

Bear spray is your best chance of not getting mauled to death…..

I have used my share of spray and if you don't get it in the face/eyes, you aren't doing much to deter it. I think I would rather have my 40 cal Glock with a full clip.

I’ll go with the experts opinions every time….sorry….your chances of getting off a single shot much less a single shot that will disable the bear are barely less than zero….you typically won’t get off a 2nd one…..

I bet I could get off at least 3 rounds faster than you could aim a spray at his face, and be more accurate.

Bears are very slow bleeders .They can still attack and kill after suffering a mortal wound. Unless you hit them with a spine o brain shot. That's not easy to do as the article stated above.

It may change his mind about continuing the charge though. And if he's headed at me, his face and chest are going to catch the bullets. I don't ever plan to put any of this into practice, mind you, I'm not an idiot! But, if I had to put myself in that position, give me my Glock before a spray that lasts about 7 seconds and shoots at an arc that you have to account for, all while he is running full bore at me. I've used both, and I promise you I'm much more accurate with a handgun.

There’s research on this - the bear attack victims with handguns fare about the same as those without.

I think we can extrapolate that the belief that having a handgun will save you from a bear attack is about as misplaced as believing you can take a bear without a weapon.

Welcome to the six percent. 😁

That's me! But, I don't plan on putting it to practice!

Just curious… what percentage think they can overtake a non-grizzly bear?

Not asking about Teddy Ruxpin or anything; just a non -grizzly
