Smartphones/Crackberrys (1 Viewer)

Heh, I should have know you Crackberry users would make 4 replies in 5 mintues. :hihi:

I can't wait to get my first mobile email jones.

Anway, thanks for all the replies. How long did it take you guys with the Pearl to get used to the Pearl's keyboard?

Bout a week. Ton of texting. Mainly just check emails. I only respond if its something urgent.

T-Mobile Dash. Love it. It is relatively sleek and lightweight. Most of the functionality is good.

Along with the usuals, I have google maps, live weather radar and Webster's dictionary on it. I actually use that dictionary all the time.

I have a 1g data card that holds photos, mp3s and email/texts.

So, if I get an iphone now, will I be able to take advantage of the soon to come upgrades (push email from exchange, etc) via firmware updates?

Or is there a new iphone to be released and anyone holding an older one will be out of luck?

Thanks.
You will be able to upgrade it with firmware updates.

Crackberry 8700, T-Mobile. I often post to SR from my phone. $29.99 plus tax for data only plan. I'd really like to get the Curve, but gotta wait til I can afford. Wouldn't trade my BB for any other, period. Used to have a sidekick and it wasn't bad, just too easy to break. Both Blackberries I've had since have been solid. My wife and I each have one and we both love it. Only downside is no video capability yet, but that can wait. Most of my daytime posting is via my BB, since I can't use work computer for SR stuff.

I've got the Verizon XV6700 and I LOVE it! Looks like Verizon has recently updated this phone to the XV6800. Not sure what features the 6800 has that the 6700 does not...but I LOVE my 6700. Check them out!

I've got the XV6800 and it's great. In fact, I'm using it as a modem for my laptop as I type this since I'm out of town with no ISP access.

My biggest complaint is that it's tough to hear callers if there's lots of noise around. I've heard there are hacks to increase the volume but have not pursued it.

I think the Blackberry Curve comes out on Sprint later this month. I'm waiting for that.

Verizon is a must if your in DC. I just got the Palm Treo 700wx, which uses windows mobile software. It ran $250 including a 100 dollar mail in rebate. This is my first smarphone /PDA so I have no real frame of reference but it rocks so far.

I was on cingular (which switched back to AT&T). Have had no problems in DC with coverage.

Had AT&T a long time ago and it sucked, but this time they have improved. I wouldn't rule out AT&T if you want the iphone.

I just bought a used palm 600 treo and a Vodafone pay as you go sim card just to take on a 4 day trip to England on draft weekend so I can keep up with the draft. This will be my first exposure to a "smartphone" .

The Blackberry Curve isn't that much bigger than the Pearl and has a full Qwerty keyboard. The 8310 (AT&T) and 8320 (T-Mobile) have built in GPS.

I heart Crackberry.

Have the curve and love it. Its been my favorite phone to date, and I've gone through a ton of them. It does everything I want and then some. While it is a bit wider it is so thin that I don't even notice.

I just the curve this week as my old blackberry broke.

its good. i like it better than the pearl or the 8800 because it is easier to type.

BlackBerry is coming out with a CDMA version of the Curve (allegedly) this month for all of you Verizon/Sprint guys. There are also a lot of cool phones in the works that I am currently working on, but I can't speak about. :(

I have the Curve 8310 and it is by far the best phone that I have had.
