So Can We Overreact Now? (1 Viewer)

It's still a little too early to overreact.
I said this in a previous thread, didn't get a lot of traction but a 2-3 record is a good spot for this team.

Man, I wish I could get there.

You will, I mean I wasn't a Saints fan before the golden years so there are some old timers on here that remember the Dark Ages of this team we are trending back in that direction. To say it happens to no team in College or NFL is beyond stupid. Every team goes through those periods. When you realize that you sort of get indifferent about the game. Yeah you love the wins and it gives you that dopamine hit for few hours or day but once the loss comes back you just think here we go again.

Signs of a good team and a bad team are pretty clear. The ability to finish. Chiefs could’ve easily lost two -three games. They didn’t. They finished when they had a chance and are undefeated. Our team with all the opportunity in the world does not finish. Two games in a row given away. How do you hold a team to no TDS and lose? Not finishing that’s how.

Our offensive line is horrible outside of Fuaga, McCoy and Ruiz in some regard.

This offensive was put together with bandaids and the adhesive has worn off sooner than expected.

The coaching is there, the players are there, the line is not where we want it to be.

Line wasn’t perfect today but I think they performed alright all things considered. The biggest offensive issues were procedural penalties and some stubborness with playcalling (the wide right tosses/handoffs haven’t worked since the Carolina game). Carr needs to make better decisions under pressure too and trust the other guys. He definitely keys in on one receiver (usually Shaheed) a bit too often when there are other guys getting open. He found Olave a lot late today but if that happens earlier in the game we probably aren’t lamenting a loss right now.

As far as overreacting goes. Everyone can do what they want but the truth is that our offense was never going to be as good as they showed in the first weeks consistently. The other teams are professional footballers too. I think today proved it’s not as bad as last week showed either but overall they let us down today nonetheless.

I have been a fan for 40+ years. My first memories of the Saints are of Archie Manning and losing and losing and losing, then the dominance of the Dome Patrol and losing, then Aaron Brooks and losing but our first playoff victory followed by more losing, then Drew Brees and Reggie Bush and the 06 NFCCG and losing, and a couple years of mediocrity and losing, then the greatest sports memory of my life, THE SAINTS WINNING THE SUPERBOWL followed by disappointing playoff losses like having all 5 running backs injured and losing to Seattle, and the 2011 San Fran PT getting speared game, and the Minny Miracle, and the 2018 NFCCG no call and losing. And here we are again, losing. And losing when we should be winning. A unique Saints culture.

My point is, most of my ENTIRE life has consisted of the Saints losing, while watching the 49ers win Super Bowls while we were in the NFCW, and the Rams winning recently, and Tampa Bay winning twice.

For whatever reason, the gods of football seem to hate the Saints. Can't put my finger on it but MOST of the probability busting plays happen against us and it is so common that when I see something incredibly bad happen to other teams, I am SURPRISED that its not us. Lol.

The only joy I can find in this misery is that 28-3 and losing a Super Bowl happened to the Falcons because that is THE most Saints thing to happen in football. So, again, I hope to get to that Zen point.

Refs probably call OPI on the falcons in that same situation Adebo got flagged for if we were the Chiefs. They’re a good football team but they’re also clearly the NFL’s current darlings.

Maybe you will find that point. You had the fortune and most cases the misfortune of watching those games. The playoff losses were tough but we made the playoffs almost every year we were always in the hunt. We aren't even in the hunt anymore we are literally trying to fight for second place in our division every year that is the new norm for this team. Like I said maybe we will get a generational QB but until then we are what our record says we are., a .500 team and probably remain that while for however long fate decides for us.

Side note: Hey you are true fan because you are with your team through thick and thin that is what makes everyone on this forum who they are when it comes to the Saints even the debbie downers who just want what is best for their team.

I watch college too if my screen name isn't obvious enough lol. You should seen the Longhorns forums when we sucked. I actually like OU too I know very odd don't ask. But look at their forum now that their offense sucks after having 20 years of elite offenses. But a fan sticks with their team no matter what.

Texas and OU?! Isn't that a bit like being a Saints and a Falcons fan? LOLOL
