So the Jags were mic'd up during DC4's outburst.... (4 Viewers)

Funny that the lowly Andy Dalton didn’t seem to have all these problems, with it also being his first year in the offense and also having a shaky line.

So far this year, 2022 Dalton beats out Carr in just about every metric. For some metrics, Carr hasn’t put up better numbers in years, if ever. Which goes to your point—where’s the upgrade?
And that's the only point that I ever wanted to make. We built Carr up to be this huge upgrade during the offseason and truthfully, "we" (as a fanbase) set ourselves up for disappointment. In no tangible area was he an upgrade, per se. He has a much better arm than Dalton but that's about it.

The problem is this wasn't a broken play. According to CGM, Carr locked on Taysom and didn't go through his progressions. While Olave didn't just "book it," he did enough to clear Taysom and the throw was there to made. Instead of throwing it to Taysom, he just chucked it. It feels like it is a lot more going on with Carr and the receivers....
Thanks as I said I could not see Taysom if he was open. So the question is why didn't Carr throw it to Taysom. Is Carr that bad because I was sold on him

and wheels, but not by much. Maybe as a fanbase, we took for granted decision making, for obvious reasons. Or are we spoiled fools with ridiculously high expectations? Maybe as a fanbase we need to group hug and grieve and mourn the loss of SP/DB era and get closure. Instead of trying to extend it with old pieces and no general.

Even this year it isn’t helping us. Dalton had a 31.6% on target rate for deep throws last year, Carr is sitting at 31.0%.

Where it’s really bad is on intermediate throws. Dalton finished 2022 at 69.0%, Carr is at 51.2%.

What strengths is PC supposed to build around when the new guy is playing worse than the old guy?

That's the $150 million question. Nobody knows why Carr just chunked it. CGM said he locked on Taysom, but still had other progressions. You have others saying that he believe he could have gotten it to Olave for a 50/50 ball. It might be a case of Carr not "seeing" Taysom open.

But, but, but. . . it was the Raiders. Loomis co-signed this mess and he needs to be fired along with DA.

Nothing makes sense with this team. We have multiple versions of what happened coming from the head coach and MT. Crazy
It makes perfect sense. Carr threw a bad pass. He released the ball prior to Olave checking up. Then he looked like a bad actor trying to show the cameras that he was mad at someone else to cover for his mistake. He had reason to be mad at Olave for checking up but it was really unrelated.

Then you have the receivers saying that Olave isn't even one of the progressions which means Carr should have thrown it to MT13 or TH7, both were open and both would have been first down.

Then you have PC and DA just throwing sheet at the wall to see what sticks.

The coaching staff thinks fans are idiots because it was just one play. What the coaches fail to realize is that fans are using it as a microcosm of all the things wrong with this team.

So the real answer is Carr is not doing his job and trying to make up for a lot of bad play with one throw over and over again. Olave shouldn't be quiting on routes regardless if he is primary or out of the progression completely. DA will not hold anyone accountable and PC who is struggling as a play caller can't get the play he calls to even be executed.

It's complete disfunction and it dates back for over a year now. The only thing more insane than what we are doing is expecting it to change without making change.

Carr is a "franchize QB"
Carr doesnt truly care about winning, he only cares about perception.,

He threw the ball to use Olave as an excuse.

He could have throw it to the open guy and tell Olave to run in the huddle.

He knew exactly what he was doing, Ive seen it for 9 1/2 years now.

Ive seen the guy throw it away on 4th and goal, knowing we would lose the game, multiple times.

Hes checked out of a hail mary, to a run, to lose the game.

He said, 'the math didnt add up."

Hes a complete poser and a fraud. This is not an isolated incident.

He pulled that garbage on our guys as well.

My optimism is in a street fight brawl with my common sense. Optimism is on the ropes, down goes optimism, down goes optimism

Were the Raiders ascending to the playoffs under Gruden in his last year? or were they losing out ragardless?

That team had no business in the playoffs, they were lucky.

Carr played like garbage in that Bengals game.

Thats really not the problem though.

The problem is, he is more worried about his image than winning.

When he played you guys last year Mcdaniel's was telling him to think and hes just standing there shaking his head.

He doesnt see any flaws in his game and has never tried to improve on his weaknesses.

He wont sell play action, he half arses the motion. He wont run , he can but he wont, and if he does he will slide 10 yards before contact even if it means a 1st down.

Listen to his PC. He says the team needs to improve, then says we need to put our arms around Moreau.

Thats Carr speak for its his fault.

All he had to say was, maybe I could have thrown a better ball," and gained the respect of the locker room.

Instead he takes the opportunity to deflect any attention to himself.

Hes a chameleon.

Moreau should've never been in that position to begin with. You have Graham make that play. Why did we sign the guy if we're not going to use him on a play that's been his bread and butter since before most of our players hit puberty?
