Soooo when is it NOT Fire Season??? Franklin fire in Malibu CA

Now a second fire, the Close Fire. Northeast side of Pasedena

That’s well into the developed area. This is a massive disaster

It's now moving toward Brentwood.

Also crossed PCH and moving up coast burning beach houses as it goes.

And winds are forecasted to gust to 80 overnight. Shoot LAX winds are at 28 to 30 mph right now, sustained. So embers are traveling a mile or more

Yeah this is going to be devastating for so many.

Just checked in w friends in LA.

He just sent me this, leaving Brentwood.

Said it's closer now than just 2 hrs ago. Thought it would go toward coast.

Oh hells no.

I think you can see water either from above or fire crews splashing down. 2x.

This is really bad with potential to get much worse if the CloseFire isnt slowed really soon.

I just read that all air units are grounded due to winds.

LAFD calling in all off duty. But not sure what that will do at this point. Hope winds change direction.

That is terrifying.

I'm pretty sure that California is always on fire.
It's on fire as much as NO is underwater/getting pummeled by hurricanes & tropical storms. It's a big state with tough terrain and this year has been particularly dry.

It has been very dry here in SoCal for the past 4 days. My lips are cracked, hair and skin are dry af, eyes burn. The wind is currently HOWLING outside. Perfect fire conditions.

So what I just heard somebody explain was that there had earlier in the year been a wet period for CA causing much larger, prolific brush to grow that is now dry and acting as the fuel for this.
