Station Eleven (HBO MAX series) (1 Viewer)

I finally got to finish this series last night. How does a 10 year become a self-taught master marksman and knife wielder? Jury is still out on this one for me.

They touched on the knife thing. when they were in the cabin, There was a scene where she was throwing knives and Jeevan commented how good she had become at throwing knives, like it was freakish..lol

I was wondering what happened to Jeeven and his standalone episode was good - but man was the Kirsten/Jeeven reunion disappointing. i don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. Lackluster is even too strong a word
Well, she was only with him for what, a year? You have to remember she spent the next 19 years with others. Although it was him who initially save her, Sarah is the one who she spent the most time with and who raised her in this world. There really was no connection between the 2 anymore, they both had their own families/community now.

it's not a documentary
the show clearly did not concern itself with how people physically survive but how they emotionally/socially/culturally survive

that being said, maybe there were 100 play loving, knife wielding girls who initially survived - 99 of them didn't make it - this one did

You would be even more disappointed if you knew how the book went. Kirsten and Jeeven were never even a thing except for the brief exchanges after King Lear. There were things the series did better than the book.

It's always rough going from book to audio/visual, yet sometimes I wonder why the changes were made and for what purpose. Someone said; ' you should always watch the show before reading the book to avoid disappointment.' I read so much that is never the case, so I am always disappointed. Now If you compare the written Reacher to the tv show Reacher, I think Well Done. The movies ... terrible.

I loved the show…just beautiful.

I really like the adult Tyler Actor. Matilda Lawler is a darn good little actress…her “appearance” in evil was absolutely chilling (great show BTW).

My favorite episode was 3. Just everything about it was just about perfect

I hope they don’t try to suck out any remaining juice in another season.

Regarding Leftover vs Station Eleven…depends on what you like. If you want a relatively optimistic tone then Station Eleven. If you want the opposite…Leftovers. The Leftovers finale was crazy good.

If it is at least a little consistent with the book there won't be another season....if there is I may (or may not) watch it....the last episode was a good enough ending for me....

Interesting characterization
I’d say Leftovers finale was heavy but overall pointing a way forward
Station 11 had a light tone at the end, but that scene of the army of kids heading back into the wilderness is ominous af

I just started this show and am on episode 5 or 6. What a wild and interesting ride this show is.

I've had this on my watch list for probably over a year but never watched it because the description they gave made it sound like just another post apocalypse show. HBO really did this show and themselves and injustice. So far it's an amazingly quirky show with a very different take on things.

another Mini Series i liked, it wasn't quite as good, was The Earth Abides, if you like Post apocalyptic type shows, but not necessarily sci fi/action.

Let me be the trillionith person to say this.....but, the book is even better....

So I finished this last night and I think it stuck the landing. To me all the things that happened and the way they were tied up makes sense. It was a show about letting go of the past and unfinished business as well as the consequences of not doing so. And, by the end, that's what it did for each character.

Obviously not a show you want to watch if you are looking for a lot of action and a broad story about the world after an apocalyptic event. But I think it was an amazing story, with great characters, and with a different point of view.
