Station Eleven (HBO MAX series) (1 Viewer)

I did not think it was possible, but this show continues to get better!
Simply amazing stuff and a refreshingly innovative take on this genre.
I agree. It’s fantastic. I’m only through seven episodes. I got through with 6 and then watched them all in reverse because I didn’t realize they had the “inside the episode” stuff after. When you watch them in reverse you pick up on so much stuff - some subtle and some not so much. I really didn’t think I’d follow up with the book like I said I would but I don’t know how I could not at this point.

Falcon beat down or not, I’m excited about all I have to watch this evening

Rest assured, you are in for a treat with the next 3 episodes!
It just continues to push all the right buttons imo.

I watched E8 and E9 last night. I am very curious if the sequence of time jumps is the same in the book as the show or if they took liberties. The way the true nature of characters and interconnections are revealed is just brilliant. It also had to be a ton of fun doing this show with the same places being used and just aging them. Its also interesting how the story focuses on a very small pocket of actual real estate. This is happening all over the world but since the whole world isn't connected the way it once was, the world of this story is in fact very small. I can't wait for the last episode.

the switch in music in E9 was extremely interesting to me. The whole show has been primarily just dramatic music and then all of the sudden in E9 you have a couple of 80s pop songs. Seems almost like it was done to hint that some other parts of the world might be slightly more normal. That at least seamed to be true for the world of Jeeven once he lost Kirsten.

So, I started watching and I'm 3 episodes in

I'm not getting all the love that everyone else is so far

I'm all for a slow burn show but it's a fine line between slow burn intriguing and slow burn boring

I'm hoping this is one of those shows where once it's gets going it goes like gangbusters

And I'll say the same thing I always say with a flashback/time jump heavy show

Everyone wants to be Lost

I was in a similar place after E3. I think it leaves you puzzled intentionally. Stick with it because what's most amazing is how it all comes together.

I hope so

Right now it seems to be a lot of nothing really happening with a few moments where it looks like something's about to happen then it doesn't

Plane crash in episode 1, when she stabs that guy in Ep 2

depends on what you mean by 'gangbusters'
the beauty is in writing and characterization (and filming, god it's so beautiful)
big plot moving scenes are few and far between (but later episodes definitely tie off loose threads from earlier ones
it's WAY more The Leftovers than Lost

I don't 'Reddit' much, until recently, but someone put a very comprehensive chronological breakdown of the show--not bound by episodic constraints-- and I found it really interesting...and I missed a fair amount of connections from the first few episodes. It seems from a sampling of the various replies that it has sort of gone in its own direction from the source material, but I have no idea...

I found it slightly interesting that in the books they refer to it as the Georgian Flu, and even shot the first few episodes referring to it that way...but then pulled it in later edits.

The music is so on point in this show. Very stoked for the finale.

I have to say that the last episode was kind of disappointing. I still liked the series, it was very thought provoking but it went out with a whimper.

They didn't really leave room for the happyish ending they tried there. The prophet had set something in motion with the children and the mines. When they saw that he had "lit the torch" what ever it was was in motion. If he changed his mind and wanted to be with his mother, there was never a moment of "Oh my God, I have to stop the children".

I think you missed a part (that others seemed to have missed as well)
When Kirsten goes to Tyler’s compound, he tells her that after she stabbed him, he wasn’t able to wrangle the kids very well so they started to try to implement the prophecy themselves- the kids who had the mines at the golf resort were rogue
— now we don’t have to assume Tyler is a reliable narrator - but we don’t have to doubt it either
The thing that works about believing Tyler’s story is that it makes Kirsten’s stabbing of him the indirect cause of both the club house deaths and probably Sarah’s
All bc she was trying to protect everyone

And I’m not trying to be snarky but I’m not sure you ever believed this show when it told you that it wasn’t like all the other apocalypse shows

And I’m not removing myself from that either- when Alex gave Tyler the knife for Hamlet, I had the rest of the show mapped in my head involving stabbing Clark and the Jeevan was going to echo his ep 1 walk to stage but this time he could save the actor, et al
But luckily the writers are better than I am and wrote something much more subtle and beautiful
