Stefon Diggs Reportedly wants to be Traded (1 Viewer)

I think if Diggs indeed wants to be traded it is because they're running the ball more there and he is seeing less targets.

Cousins might be a tad bit mediocre but he's above-average mediocre and far better starting QB then lets say Case Keenum, Fitzpatrick at the moment in Miami, Sam Darnold, With a great supporting cast, Cousins will win you 9 games, maybe 10 if he's lucky and his team wins a few close ones, but that's it. He's a poor man's Alex Smith who unfortunately wasn't a late bloomer and never had a few good seasons in his late 20s/early 30's.

This smells like a guy who wants to be the #1 big dog wherever he lands and he definitely wouldn't be that here plus the fact that Sean Paytons offense is not a simple plug and play assignment.

I think this is a pass as far as the Saints are concerned!
I’m going to disagree a bit. Diggs is a flamboyant diva, that’s a given, but he doesn’t ever say things that would imply that he thinks he’s the best on his team. He is probably tired of Cousins inability to be consistent and he’s playing in a run first offense now.

Two years ago i might have signed off on this, but watching a few things play out, I’m not so sure now.

I’m not about to say Keenum is a good NFL QB, but he was a better NFL QB for the Vikings with the same starting WRs.

Dollar for dollar (current contracts) give me Keenum. Cousins is grossly over paid.

Fitz? OK. Won’t argue that. At this point Fitzmagic has played out, and Miami doesn’t have the supporting talent to help revive it.

Darnold? If I had to bet, he’ll prove to be a much better NFL QB than Cousins.

Right now Cousins appears no better than a bottom third of the league guy. There are a lot of less established guys (like Josh Allen) that I’d rather have.

And to be completely transparent, this comes from someone who was sold on Cousins not too long ago.

I don’t at all like this trend of so many players requesting to be traded, but I at least understand players like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jalen Ramsey asking to get off of sinking ships. But Diggs is on a 2-1 team playing well, just not throwing much so far. The offense is doing well with 78 points scored in 3 games, so he is simply upset over his role, not the teams success that his role plays in. Seems similar to when Brandin Cooks complained about not getting targets after a game in which the Saints scored 50 points or so in. He seems to be a bit of a head case and is fairly injury prone. I wouldn’t be opposed to trading for him, but wouldn’t get involved in a bidding war either.

In a vacuum I'd love to have Diggs. He'd be exactly the cure that ails us on offense at times. We'd solve the problem of really only having two legitimate weapons. If teams pulled the 2018 Dallas/Rams strategy of bracketing CGM and spying Kamara, Diggs would absolutely feast. And it would slide Ginn down to the #3 WR which is where he really belongs anyway.

But there's no chance the Saints are going to tie up 20% of the salary cap on the WR position with incoming huge contracts for Kamara, Ram, and possibly Lattimore. With the cash he's getting, we're probably going to have journeyman WRs or WRs on their first contract next to CGM as long as he's here.
