Stefon Diggs Reportedly wants to be Traded (4 Viewers)

In a vacuum I'd love to have Diggs. He'd be exactly the cure that ails us on offense at times. We'd solve the problem of really only having two legitimate weapons. If teams pulled the 2018 Dallas/Rams strategy of bracketing CGM and spying Kamara, Diggs would absolutely feast. And it would slide Ginn down to the #3 WR which is where he really belongs anyway.

But there's no chance the Saints are going to tie up 20% of the salary cap on the WR position with incoming huge contracts for Kamara, Ram, and possibly Lattimore. With the cash he's getting, we're probably going to have journeyman WRs or WRs on their first contract next to CGM as long as he's here.

Yeah, Diggs would be too expensive and he's not gonna redo his contract. Just don't see that happening. He'd definitely be a nice addition though.

Would love to have him but Diggs likely wants to be starter. No way anyone will get past CGM here.

He would be a starter, just opposite CGM. Now, if he's insistent on being WR1, that's a different issue. It doesn't matter who's 1 or 2 tho, Diggs would upgrade the WR group significantly.

Apparently it's hard for guys that make $12 million plus a year playing a sport to just keep their mouths shut and do their jobs.
Why does this bother you so much? Is it the money, is it because they're athletes, or is it something else?

Another fantasy trade thread, I see. There's no credible source. At all.

But that's never stopped us before.
Hed probably take a pay cut because of our locker room and to catch balls from Drew.

And he'd get to practice against marcus William's everyday.

The way they wrote that rumor is hilarious: "Diggs has requested a trade or has been thinking of getting traded..." Didn´t now scoop reporters could read minds LOL

I wouldn't say it bothers me SO much. I'm bothered a lot more by the NFL referee situation, the Saints secondary play, the Super Bowl halftime shows, the price of alcohol in the Dome, and the fact that evey time I spend a lot of money on a Saints players jersey he goes to another team. Lol

My problem is the timing of these now too frequent trade requests and the disloyalty it shows to their teammates and fans. If a vested player is on an opening day roster and thereafter cut, then his salary is guaranteed for the season, so likewise I believe a player should "shut up and just do his job" AFTER the season starts.

I have nothing against athletes but they are entertainers plain and simpl, and they are getting paid extremely well to do it. So when you get paid to do a job, I believe you should do it without complaining. And if you get paid very well, I'd expect even less complaining. My reaction would be the same if an actor started working on filming a movie - that's the equivalent of what a NF L football season is IMO - and the actor started complaining about the script, the directors, etc. and thought they'd look bad in the movie so they demanded to be moved to another one of the studios productions.

IMO the time to negotiate about their contract situation or complain if they have issues about how they are being used or the coaching, etc., is BEFORE or AFTER the season not DURING the season when they impact their teammates and fans. If they want to hold out and not get paid before the season starts or request a trade at that time, I don't have a problem with it at all. So once a season starts, I expect a player to just buckle down and do his job, be loyal to his team and fans, and give 100% no matter how well his team is performing. Is that too much to expect from our entertainers?
