Stefon Diggs Reportedly wants to be Traded (3 Viewers)

Ha!

So he tweeted something on Sunday night and that's what started the rumor.

Someone local who would know said they need to "nip it in the bud" regarding a player, and evidently it's Diggs.
I presume it's just about him wanting the ball more.

The goal for this team is to make it as mindnumbingly boring of a team (run, run, run, safe pass, run, run) as possible so Cousins doesn't appear to be a big flop. If Cousins continues his suckiness, the GM probably presumes he's out so he's making sure the coach would know the same would go for him.

So I presume their whole goal is to win with running.
This of course goes against the grain of signing Diggs to a contract extension, and then more curiously, extending Thielen again this off-season. We are in salary cap hell and we have gone so low as to resign Laq. Treadwell this last week for WR depth. A notable admitted 1st round bust of ours.

In summary, our GM is one of the worst in the league. He can't draft QB's or O-lineman, or specialists.

I would guess that Diggs is probably on the market if rumors say he is, but we're not exactly deep in WR.
I'd assume we make it through the year with him, and we trade him in the off-season to free up cap space.

By then, of radio network of the Vikings will have had enough time to talk down Diggs and talk up Irv Smith, Cook, and Thielen so the fanbase doesn't feel like Diggs was important and therefore we're going to be WAY better off by trading him for a 1st round pick who we will use on another bust.

Dalvin Cook will be demanding Big money so someone will have to go.

Thank for this insight! It's kind of hard for us when we don't follow the team every day to get to the bottom of the rumor if there's any merit there or not. Realistically I think there is zero chance he is traded during the season and even if he is I doubt the Saints would be able to pony up what it would take to get him.

To trade him in season, this season, would be really odd.
He would really have to be at a point of being a major cancer in the locker room which hasn't been the case. He's a widely loved teammate on the roster it appears.

We only have 2 WR's so we need both.
Our team is still in contention, so I don't see them giving up on players until we're out of it.
Our salary cap situation would make it hard for us to do much, although we'd gain some space with him leaving.
