TE Juwan Johnson re-signed to 3-year deal (77 Viewers)

Eating $6M more is not a joke with the massive $$$$ pickle they got themselves into.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they still have Hill and Ramcyzk to take action on? Any other in-house guys?

They already were in the green this season, further in the green next season, and too much in the green in 2027. They absolutely could have eaten $6m in dead money from Johnson leaving and not sweated it. I believe this has more to do with them believing Johnson can contribute than saving a few million.

It’s pretty much an extension for cap purposes from the $6.5 million void year dead money. Its really like 8 mil a year.
I am not convinced that you are understanding the cap correctly.

I think his extisting dead monies just get spread out but its still on top of new monies.

I am not sure. But i'm not sure that i think you are sure. :)

I hate this move and feel like we overpaid due to void years. Nothing against JJ, I hope he does great but I dunno

Ok, now THIS one is a retention that I could've done without seeing. So many TE's available in the draft this year that I'd have been ok with seeing a higher-round draft pick used on one. Maybe we still do see one drafted, who knows?

All the retentions simply rachet up the pressure on Kellen Moore to get something out of Allen's starters. If he does, we can at least say "well, it must've been the coaching." If not, then it becomes "wonder why Loomis saddled Moore with all these non-productive players?"

Loomis is on the record as saying they need to add two TEs so they could and likely will still draft one.

so it is becoming more and more apparent that we're the bottom of the barrel teams when we resign people who under performed and really let the team down. the saints don't care about winning anymore. this guy is not clutch and is a primodonna. always hurt.

Or maybe the new HC doesn't want to create more holes in his first year than he has the capacity to fill in the draft.

It's not $10M a year, closer to 7 or $8M per with some cap relief.

Not great, but not terrible. And I doubt we are closing the door on building the TE room.

This place will truely melt down if we miss out on Becton and I think that's a high probabiltiy. His stock is high and we can't be the only team interested. Hopefully Kellen and Nuss have some pull. Fingers crossed.

Well technically we have 4 TEs on the roster 2 of them most likely won’t be ready for the season and 3rd had a handful of plays his rookie year

With the need at safety and CB becoming more pressing the last 2 days we need to at least be able to field a team
