TE Juwan Johnson re-signed to 3-year deal (18 Viewers)

It’s pretty much an extension for cap purposes from the $6.5 million void year dead money. Its really like 8 mil a year.

Yeah, he was the top or close to the top rated TE in free agency this year. I'm not a huge fan of bringing him back, but it does stop the dead cap hit and $8 million per year sounds like a better number. And as much as people will complain about this deal and he has not yet lived up to his potential, he had more yards last year that Dallas Godert who many want to trade for. Of course, he's not the blocker that Goedert is, but we do need a bit body receiver to go over the middle and Johnson fits that if he can stay healthy the way he did after coming back last year.

He's also apparently a very good locker room guy.

You have to assume Moore sees something on film as the reason this happened. Eating $6m in dead cap is nothing, a joke.

Eating $6M more is not a joke with the massive $$$$ pickle they got themselves into.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they still have Hill and Ramcyzk to take action on? Any other in-house guys?

They’re waiting for Ram to officially retire and Hill is still up in the air if he’s a pay cut candidate or June 1 release.

He's talented, but this new contract suggest he is 70 catches for 800 yards and 11 touchdowns talented and he's never sniffed that.

Some of that lack of production last year was because we had to keep our TEs in to block to protect our Tackles. He had more production later when they were splitting him out since we had no WRs left.

You know that those numbers are dependent on snap counts & targets.
It just depends on how this staff uses him.

CKM offense uses TE more that what JJ has seen in his career.
It will be interesting to see how Carr adjust to this offense since he doesn't look for his TE as much...

All this tells me is that we don't have the luxury to draft a TE early
I think we still take a TE in the first four rounds ... we need two ... and I think Warren could still be in play as 1A with Johnson being 1B (and maybe WR6 of sorts) along with Moreau and Foster with Taysom, if he comes back midseason ready to go, doing his Swiss-Army Knife thing. ... Jeanty, Chris Johnson or even ... Sanders if he slides down (please no! I'm praying we don't waste a No. 1 pick for one of this year's QBs)? We still haven't made a splash signing (Becton?!!), but some of these moves are manipulating cap space in order to do so, and that's the one we need to make.

With the Raiders, Carr had Darren Waller, who caught 90 and 107 passes, respectively, in the consecutive seasons of 2019 and 2020 from Carr. In the same two seasons, Moreau caught seven touchdown passes from Carr.

Run it back!!! Lol
Told people they'd be essentially running it back hoping that a different coaching staff and better injury luck can get this team to be what it's capable of being. Sean Payton added almost 28 new players in 06 to remake the team. The Saints won't be able to do that year 1 for Moore so it's going to be a 2 year process to remodel the team. By start of 2026 season only a handful of players will have been on that losing 2024 team. Just need two healthy drafts back to back and they can add 8-9 new players in each draft and then some bonus FA's in each year.
