NFL Draft TE Tyler Warren as Saints 1st pick? (15 Viewers)

Thank you!

I realistically think our best option at TE is Fannin in the 3rd. I do think in general though we need to lean hard into versatility as much as possible, including spending first round capital. Elite, versatile weapons seem to be the way teams without elite QB play are able to make themselves relevant.

The first question teams ask about TE prospects now is "Can they catch" and Fannin answers that question. He's smaller so that will be a knock on him, but Bowers is smaller as well and he's leading the league in receptions with 84.

I agree about versatility, but we can't miss on most of our picks this draft and especially our 1st round pick which should be fairly high. That pick has to be someone who is a needs/BPA and lucky for us, we have quite a few needs.

Getting bullied in a physical sport is unacceptable. We absolutely without a doubt need a run stuffer at DT or NT if we switch to a 3-4. Either way, someone next to Bresee will make Bresee be that much better. I'd consider double dipping at DT this draft.

I would also consider double dipping at TE or sign one in FA since there are some decent guys out there and draft one, either way, double dip. The drafted TE should be a playmaker.

Outside of Fannin, who else? I know some of yall are high on Mason Taylor but both these gents are projected ~3rd round and I feel like we may need to diversify around that stage of the draft.

Hi Welcome!

Love Tyler Warren but he’s almost certainly not going to be picked in the top 10 or 11 where the saints will be picking. Maybe at 40ish but I think he’ll probably be gone before then.

I agree with you about Fannin Jr with possibly our 3rd. I also think Gunnar Helm and Mason Taylor would both be solid picks in the late 3rd/early 4th.

This draft isn’t really rich with blue collar prospects but I think it’s got a lot(TE/RB/DL/Edge/CB) at positions the Saints need. 6 picks in the top 130 should fill a bunch of holes hopefully.
Heavy agree with all of this. Really ideal draft for filling depth and that's what the Saints need more now than any individual position.

Yes! I been trying to hype him up all season!!

Mason Taylor for sure. That guy can play. He's going to make a QB in the NFL very happy.

Gunnar Helm out of Texas. He always seems to be making plays.

Colston Loveland. He answers the question of "Can he catch". He probably needs work in other areas, but I'll draft a Jim Harbaugh recruited player and let him develop. Harbaugh knows talent.

I def understand the caution on drafting a TE first round, and there's still players I would take before him. However, I think Brock Bowers being 4th in the league in reception yards shows there's some value in drafting a first round TE.

With the Taysom thing, I think it's pretty important to continue the conversation about someone else fulfilling his role. I get they have different playstyles but the utility player archetype and advantage still applies to both players. Considering Taysom can elevate this team from bottom of the barrel to playoff contender, another guy doing even half of what he does would be huge.
1st Rd, nah. That is possibly impact/alpha WR territory, depending on where we end up. Otherwise D-Line. But I do like him a lot. We can come away with a really solid starter at TE. We need to stop talking about anyone comparing to Bowers, though. He's an absolute true generational type, we came so dang close but it wasn't meant to be. Nobody is that kinda dude, not for a long while...imo

I disagree tightend is a major need. Every good nfl team has a good tighend. We’ve been playing for years without a starting caliber tightend on the roster.
Historically, Tight Ends picked at the top of the draft have a poor success rate. You can find good ones farther down, that isn't always the case with other 'Glamour' positions..
