NFL Draft TE Tyler Warren as Saints 1st pick? (2 Viewers)

I agree that drafting a top tier TE will be very important for us, especially if we will have a young QB in the near future. So, I agree with the importance of getting a TE.

That said, the upcoming draft is loaded with future NFL TEs. There are at least 12 very good TEs this year. Granted they aren't all Warren, but there will be big time talent in rounds 2-4 this year.

I've seen pretty little of college football too, but from watching UT, Pearce looks pretty mid in comparison from last year. Would realistically prefer Abdul Carter but still had to rep my boy.
Going to keep an eye on Carter tonight. I did one of those mock drafts and he was BPA so I went and watched some highlights. Holy Cow. His physical ability and awareness is crazy. Seems to line up at MLB a lot for Penn St even though he is listed as Edge for the draft.

Keep an eye on DL Jordan Burch from Oregon also. He's a large man with bad intentions. He's going to be a good pro.

No. Never spend a 1st rounder on TE. He also just benefits from the fact that the QB always throws to him mostly. He is bigger than the college athletes on the field. That don't matter in the NFL

Dear lord please when posting about a talented athlete may the comparisons to Taysom stop.

He is a unique athlete, with unique ability, size and speed and body type. There isn't anyone in the NFL with his body type that's how unique he is on that account. NFL hard to be good at one thing let alone 5 things he really good at.

Homie you just described Tyler Warren. Jimmy Graham and Gronkowski were also bigger than the college athletes on the field. It mattered a lot once they got into the NFL. It's hilarious you're using a dude being the primary weapon on the #4 team in the country as a negative against him.

I agree top 10 is too rich for him but if we end up in the 13-18 range it's really hard to find a weapon as dominant as Tyler Warren

18 seems too high to me given what I think are his athletic limitations. I mean, he's not close to being a Brock Bowers and I'm not even sure he's the best TE in this draft who I think it probably Loveland at Michigan. But I'm just some dude with a computer so I could be wrong about his value.

Warren literally has double the stats Loveland has this year. Watch when he runs in the 4.5's at 6'6 260lbs in March. These 2nd-3rd round takes have me rolling :yelrotflmao:

I love Warren but to be fair to Loveland, he has more receiving yards than all of the Michigan WR's combined. Michigan just can't/doesn't throw the football this year. They're both really good prospects.

Is there a Darrel Washington in this draft? Steelers are starting to use just as I expected and wanted him for. Just wait until he's worked into the RZ targets.

Is number 11 for Penn State in this year’s draft? Fast, smart and makes a lot of plays.
Yes. Abdul Carter. Projected top 7 or 8 pick. I hope a couple teams can’t help themselves and they grab a QB or 2 and he falls to us.

We absolutely need help in the trenches, particularly at DT. We're getting little push up the middle and getting gashed in run defense. We also need to look at replacing Davis at LB and have issues at DE.

We also need a WR1. Olave is good, but with his concussion history, riding with him is risky.

I don't doubt TE is a need, but we have serious issues at other positions that have to be addressed. How you balance all of that in the draft and free agency, I don't know, but there's a lot of work to do.

Ultimately, you probably have to draft BPA in the first round this time.

Draft picks and benefit from a deep draft at the positions we need.

Yeah, maybe even trade down to get some extra picks. Not opposed to that. But we definitely do need some playmakers, so if someone we really like is there, you take him and no regrets.

Drafting a WR1 feels like a wasted pick to me. I'd rather go with a giant TE. Time and again we've seen giant TE's serve as the top passing option. TE's creating linebacker mismatches also forces a safety down which benefits your burners like Shaheed and MVS

We have an interior Oline problem, a QB consistency problem, and although most don't want to admit it, Kamara going into age 30 with how much he gets beat up and no RB's behind him, gives us a RB problem.

All of those problems means you won't get the use out of a WR1 that you pay for. Oline, Front 7 on defense, TE and a RB should likely be our targets. If theres a franchise QB here, you include him in the mix.
