NFL Draft TE Tyler Warren as Saints 1st pick? (3 Viewers)

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but Brugler did his latest mock yesterday:

10. New Orleans Saints: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Even with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed expected back in the fold next year, the Saints need more playmaking size at receiver.

McMillan isn’t going to blow away teams with his 40-yard dash, but his catch-point skills will win over NFL coaches. Using his Gumby-ish adjustment skills, he does an outstanding job expanding his catch radius, high pointing and becoming a threat as a ball carrier.

For the 26th time in his career… T-Mac TD™️

Also here is where he had Warren going...

23. Denver Broncos: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

Like Chicago, Washington and a few other teams, Denver would be wise to continue upgrading around its rookie quarterback. A more athletic and versatile version of current Broncos tight end Adam Trautman, Warren is very much a Sean Payton type of tight end. He can play inline or the “F” role and would expand the Broncos’ playbook.

I like Tyler Warren. I personally think Luke Lachey will be just as good, and wouldn't be surprised if he had a better NFL career (of course team, QB all account for that). I don't understand why, but Iowa always seems to find amazing talent at TE.

They both have different games. Tyler Warren is a TE that does a lot of screens and short throws. He also has a knack for finding gaps in zone. He also can run the ball akin to Taysom Hill. Luke Lachey is more of a traditional TE, running mid/deep routes more akin to Ben Watson and can really fight well for contested balls which serve great in redzones.

Can't go wrong either.

Want to add, what would be REALLY awesome, is if we took both and ran the Patriots 2010-2012 double TE formation offense. With Kamara in the backfield and grabbing another capable RB in the draft or free agency to relieve him, it would be an unstoppable offense.

That WR might be a big disappointment. Kadarius Toney is a great example, just bigger and not as fast. Injury issues with legs, commonly dropped catchable balls. But really great route running.

Would be a very disappointing top 20 pick. Especially with how soft we are in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If we pick anyone that doesn't strengthen our trenches in the first round, it needs to be a generational talent like Ashton Jeanty. And yes, RB is a giant need with Kamara going onto his age 30 season. As of now, as soon as Kamara starts to slow down due to age our entire offense poops the bed, even if we had a better WR.

When is the first interior D-lineman projected to come off the board and get drafted? I’m not a draft nerd and have no idea. But would like for us to work it to where we get them right before they are gone. Just like KC did us with Mahomes.

I'm all for building the lines, but McMillian at #10 would be a very good pick unless there is somehow a can't miss DL or OT sitting there at #10 and I doubt there will be.

I'm in the trenches camp. I don't think it matters which side of the ball, either. O-line and D-line are the hugest needs right now. McMillan seems to be a consensus top WR pick on the internet....but we've seen countless times where that position produces some great players later on. Same for TE.

I would love to get Tet on our team if possible. Only guys I have over him for us is Graham and Jeanty. Only concern is that Carr really doesn't like to throw to his WR1, so it may be better to get a 2nd round guy like Tre Harris lol.

Did a simulation with no trades. WR Burden, DT Grant, RB Singleton, DE Gillotte, TE Evans, OG Kandra, S Ransom, LB Kelly, CB Grimes.

i read an article that quoted a few anonymous GMs that said there are no more than 8 players with first round grades. not that they are right as some will end up being great players but i hope we get one of the first round talents.

Ya. This isn't the draft to trade up. Most the QB's look like they will be career backups. Theres really only 4 incredible talents and thats Ashton Jeanty, Travis Hunter, Mason Graham and Will Johnson. Might be able to make a case for Kevin Banks. It's possible we see people give up the farm to try and trade up for those forementioned 4.

But really, I would be accumulating as many 2nd and 3rd round picks and draft from large amounts of 2nd round talent, because it seriously seems like the back of the 1st round, 2nd round and 3rd round are all 2nd round talent.

Yes! I been trying to hype him up all season!!
Same here, although I have been hope we could get him in the 2nd. But the way his year has progressed, I think he's gone in the first but probly not the best where we'll be picking.

And I say no way he gets past Denver.

I haven't seen that article but that seems to be the case. There looks like 5-10 first round talents and about 80 guys that could have second round grades. A higher draft pick this year obviously gives you more options but not necessarily better talent. It's not a great class but it looks like a deep one. The Saints need to hang on to those day 2 picks.
