Tech outage brings massive disruption worldwide including major air carriers to full stop (2 Viewers)

Out IT head was on vacation except he's in here today running around all crazy. Poor dude.....
Our CEO is out today, and I don't think he's in a cell service area. Lucky SoB

Please be a little extra nice to your IT team today. It’s not our fault and we’re doing what we can. It’s going to be a crushing day, we’ve already had two people up overnight
Our IT guys have been here since 3am. 2 of the 5 computers in our dept are up and running. Apparently mine went rogue and was off the state of Maryland network, so the IT dude needs a different fix for it. If I had known my computer was wayward, I may have engaged in internet hijinks, shenanigans, nonsense, and foolishness.

Our IT guys are weird, but in a semi-nerd cool quirky way. One has an Indian motorcycle he’s supposed to bring in so I can ride it. I probably won’t come back though…

lawyers are the only reason we have 5340593045987034895098345 fax machines
And healthcare

Edit: Thankfully I don’t have to worry about fax machines because I am no longer in management and don’t have to send in weekly updates. A fact for which I am eternally grateful

That's because law firms in Louisiana have to have fax machines because the Louisiana the State Court system, until a few years ago, wouldn't accept electronic filings so the only way to file other than sending a runner to the court house and that's impractical if you are filing in another Parish. So every firm needed fax machines to fax file pleadings. In addition, the Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure only allowed service on other counsel by fax or certified mail until 5 or so years ago when they added that you could serve by email. And the reason for all that is that if you take electronic filings there are fewer patronage jobs in the Parish Clerk of Court's office and that's an issue because of corrupt politics. Which is of course the root cause of most of our problems in Louisiana. Then again, most of the politicians are lawyers so it kind of comes full circle.

thanks, that is good info. i've often wondered why we still fax so much.

The thing is that they charge a large fee per attorney to be able to electronically file in most Parishes so some firms have a number minimum of lawyers who that pay for to e-file and some firms won't pay for it. So, they keep using fax machines at times.

i totally forgot, we don't even have e-file, so the faxes make sense. also, fork public record requests. i understand a lot of them are needed for due diligence, but for fork's sake, some of them are beyond stupid.

I'm sure Jeff Landry will do away with public records requests in the near future.
