TEDDY 2020 (2 Viewers)

It's time for a change everyone needs to get behind.

Teddy bridgewater for QB.

No mistakes
No flash
Control football
Dominate time of possession

This wins playoff games not high flying attacks.

I'm "kind of" with you.... I mean, I really like Teddy and wouldn't be upset if he was the Saints starter going forward.

But....

Of the last 4 quarterbacks left, Mahomes and Rodgers are very flashy, while Tannehill and Garoppolo are more ball-control, efficient QB's. Seems like flash can still get you there, as can the Bridgewater grounded style of play.

Is the rest of our roster built for a more ball-control attack, or a high-flying offense? That is the question - because either style can win these days.

Sorry, but I'm probably going to disappoint you. I just put Loosy on my ignore list. People that create sock puppets to be their sycophantic cheerleaders are of no interest to me.

I'd run from me too if I were constantly getting blown up like you are.

The best way to avoid getting called out for stupid posts is to not make stupid posts. I'm just saying.

Running the ball helps the defense. Teddy is not as flashy as drew but we were in control of all those games due to playing as a full team. We have no idea what teddy would have done in a full season.

We were a different team largely because of injuries.

Rankins, Davenport, Apple, Lattimore, Klein, Von Bell, and Marcus Williams all missed games or went on IR after Teddy had his run.

We also suffered two OL injuries after the 5-0 stretch.

The defense was downright dominant early on.

and what happens when Teddy does make a mistake? When we don't dominate the time of possession? When we don't control the football? When we don't win a playoff game or better yet, don't make the playoffs?
We give Teddy a pass just like you are giving Brees a pass.

Nope, whoever takes over is going to be heavily scrutinized. One bad game and the board will be calling for the backup. This is really uncharted territory.

You are a joke. But not a funny one. TB's pass at the 22 second mark is only 34 yards in the air. Taysom's bomb to Harris went just shy of 60 yards through the air.

Teddy's longest throw of the season was 45 air yard and in that throw Ginn literally has to stop and stutter step sideways and wait for it to arrive. If Teddy can throw 60 yards we have yet to see it happen as a Saint.

starts at 5:22

Did you even consider that the playcall didn't warrant a 60 yard throw? SMH

How is Drew Brees holding back the Team exactly, were coming off a DISSAPOINTING 13-3 season.

Now, I'm as ready to see what Taysom Hill or Teddy Bridgwater can do as the heir apparent but lets stop bashing Brees to make it happen.

His up coming free agency and the Saints wanting to keep all three QB's together suggest that we might lose one or two players at that position but if we are thinking about the future and the dead money the Saints will already have to eat because of those "maximize Drews window" contracts it may be time to go with a 27yr old Bridgewater or 29yr old Hill.
The playbook is limited to only what Brees can do physically. THAT holds the offense back.

Are you scrutinizing Brees now? If not, he definitely deserves it. You don't have to prove anything to me. Just be honest with yourself.

Don't know the reason for the down votes, but this is true. Drew Brees should be the QB for the Saints until the second Drew Brees no longer wishes to be the QB of the Saints. He is 100% absolutely OWED that. By the team, by the fan base, by the city.

I like Teddy, Teddy is an excellent QB. He is NOT Drew Brees. Teddy needs to go be a starting QB somewhere. Since Drew Brees is staying in NO, it will NOT be for the Saints. I would love to keep Teddy next year WITH Drew Brees, but Teddy would be an idiot to remain here.

For that reason, The Saints should move forward with Drew Brees and Taysom Hill next year, plus a QB to be named later. Nothing against TB, but those are the facts.
Nobody OWES Brees anything. THIS IS A BUSINESS!! This is a prime example of fans letting their emotions cloud their judgement. SMH

People will accuse me again of being down on Teddy. I'm not, I am just being realistic about his skill and performance.

And please don't remind me about his back story and recovery. All nice, but Taysom also has come back from injury stories and no one make them an argument for keeping Taysom on the team.
Teddy has tremendous upside at his age. Brees has no upside. NONE!!

Well You have your opinion and I have mine. Teddy is not the QB I want to see on the field. He had one great game out of five. If I have to lose DB then give me TH who I would have fun watching.
I would rather draft one of the QB’s coming out this draft and let them learn behind DB for a year before using Teddy full time. My reason is that Teddy will require a starters contract which is an investment in our teams future for 2-5 years. He has not shown me enough for this payday. If he Flops and can only win us 5-7 games this year we’re pretty much screwed going forward with the rest of the big contracts we will be needing to pay.

dont let all of the Teddy, Teddy Teddy chants in the super dome fool you. The fans got behind him because it was what was needed to boost his confide and for us to succeed when Drew was out. We all do not love him.
You say Teddy has not shown you enough after starting 5 games but you prefer Taysom who has never started a game or been under center an entire game. That's very interesting.

Define a Flashy QB

LOL. I've been consistent in my comments, feel free to go back and read them. My critique of Drew is his age and we should move forward with the younger guys rather than another 1 more try year with Drew while risking losing a viable replacement.

The genesis of this string of thought was the claim that Taysom under threw Harris forcing him to slow down to catch it. That pass traveled 58 yards in the air.

The TB play you are commentating on was presented as proof that, UNLIKE Taysom, TB's could hit his receivers in stride on a deep pass. I merely pointed out that the pass presented only had to go 34 yards so hitting his receiver in stride is not a big deal.

As for your playcall comment. I checked Teddy's career record looking at every Pro NFL pass he has thrown. Here are some of the facts that evolved from that search.

  1. He has thrown exactly 15 deep passes that have resulted in a gain, including the run after catch, of more than 30 yards.
  2. The furthest completed pass thrown by teddy in his entire NFL career was 47 yards up field and 49 actual air yard on the diagonal.
  3. This is 10 yards less than Taysom's most recent deep pass.
  4. If I remember correctly I think I counted only 3 additional passes that traveled more than 40 yards.
  5. Teddy has never shown a deep ball arm. You can believe that is because of the play calling or not.
There was one other attempt in this thread to prove TB could throw deep. A Hail Marry to the end zone that was broken up by two defenders.

To address this one we need a little physics lesson.

You may recall from high school or college learning at what angle does a "Loose" cannon shoot furthest. Absent air resistance it is always 45 degrees. When you include the air and the coefficient for a spiraling football it falls to around 38-33 degrees for a pass. A new ball in dry weather maybe 37 and a rough, well used ball in damp weather maybe 34.

The point I'm making here is that most QBs can throw the 36 degree hail marry 65 yards in the air but the long hang time means there will be a convention of defensive backs hanging out with the receiver.

It is throwing a ball 55+ yards on a shallow enough angle that still lets the receiver maintain separation for the catch, that is the trick. Taysom showed it, Teddy never has.
