She has a different game than Gauff.I have known for at least a year that Jessica's dad is the Buffalo Bills owner. Anyway, she is her own person who now has a chance to follow in Coco's footsteps. Sabalenka is back in the finals against another American. Go Jessica!
Her strength is that deep ball, keeping the opponent hitting from well behind the baseline, and moving them side to side. From the middle of second set on, she found her range and just peppered that deep ball where and when she wanted, making it hard for Muchova to find a shot that would allow her to rush the net ( and a few times she did, she won a few, but lost more and that made her start to second guess her approach ) and finding winners since she is having to hit from 10-15 ft further back.
It was a pretty awesome display last night of ability and mental sharpness about playing within your own game.
She took immediate control of the 3rd ( Muchova left court after losing 2nd, presumably to "regroup" mentally ) winning the first 3 games, basically laying down to Muchova you gonna have to find a different game to beat me and Muchova couldnt. Brilliant match by Pegula.
