The best QB in this draft (1 Viewer)

I hear you. With no disrespect intended, I think you're thinking with your heart. Saints need a long term QB, therefore you're high on the QBs.

And not singling you out, this happens every year. When the Saints needed a DE, people were talking up draft prospects that would eventually go in the 3rd or 4th round as potential 1st round picks. I remember people talking about Taco Charlton like he was the next coming! Taco. When the Saints "need" a certain position, everyone talks about the players at that position like they're all can't miss. You'll see things like "here are my top 7 RBs in the draft. The Saints could take anyone of them 24!" Saints need a safety? Come draft, you'll hear things like, "can't believe Dunbar Ventriloquist is still there in the 5th, I had him as a 2nd, the Saints need to jump on him quick"

I can understand why you may think the need for a quarterback makes me wanting the saints to grab a quarterback, but this is not the case.

I do know we need a quarterback long term, but I am not thinking with a sense urgency.

I don't think any of these quarterbacks are prospects like Joe Burrow, or Desean Watson, but I think these prospects are capable to have the game and impact of say, Derek Carr.

My point is, you may not have a superstar in this class, but you have (on my view) very capable players. All worth of the 18th pick on this draft.

Since I think we will not be picking early in the near future, we may take a chance and go and get one, if we really like him.

Right now, of course left tackle is top priority for the draft, followed by receivers, but I would not be mad if the choice is quarterback.

The quality of the players to me, is well worth the cost of opportunity. We are not drafting for the next two years only (Winston's contract), but for the next 10-15 years.

There is no QB that I want us to take. I think T, WR, TE, S are all bigger needs right now and Winston is worth 1 full year. Plus Book becomes a totally wasted pick.

Carolina, Atl, Seattle, and Pitt lack a competent starter.

Carolina is screwed with no 2nd or 3rd and Darnold. Trading down might be best - Eagles? Hope the QB you want falls past Atl and Sea? Take Pickett at 15?

Atl could go QB since they have so many picks to fill other holes. Willis?

Sea may want wait a round or year on QB with all the picks they have and Drew Lock. I think they are waiting on Baker to be cut/traded. OT or CB.

Pitt trade up with Jets if targeted QB is still there? It’s gambling that Car, Atl, Sea don’t take your target while preventing WFT, Minn, or NO from drafting him.

Let’s see what happens with JimmyG and Baker.

Carson Strong is the best QB prospect in this draft. He checks all the boxes. If it wasn't for his surgically repaired knee he would be the first one taken. I really hope we are strongly (no pun intended) considering him.
Pickett is best QB in this Draft. Not even close. Willis has highest upside. Big time verticle arm with a Hurts type running ability. But need ton of work. Strong the 2nd most ready to play. Maybe first. Some full field reads and can challenge all levels of coverage with his arm talent from the pocket. He looks like a old a phillip rivers ok the field but hes gonna be on the field playing for someone.

The Payton regime was never able to develop a rook, and we saw how Book looked last year, I would rather see how Jameis does this year and if that doesn't work look for another vet.
Makes you wonder if that inability was the result of Drew wanting every snap in practice, walkthrough etc.

Who's interest is more important? Your future HOF QB or the franchise? I know we all agree that Drew deserved that respect but do you think GB was wrong in how they handled Farve?

GB won a championship w/ A-Rod, Favre’s ankle still hurts to this day.

Predicting who will be a franchise QB isn't the hard part. It's being in position to draft one. There's a reason Burrow went #1 over all and a reason why none of these QBs are ranked in the top 10 players. As we get closer to the draft desperate teams will take an unfounded risk and reach for a QB thinking "hopefully it turns out okay" versus "this is what the film says".

Hitting on a QB isn't as hard as the lottery, but people like to pretend it's random, like someone finds a Tom Brady every year. When in fact the MOST LIKELY outcome is dropping a first round pick on someone that shouldn't have been picked in the first. That's not hard to see if you take off the wishful thinking goggles.

When a franchise QB enters the draft, go all in to get him, but wasting a 1st hoping that a guy that looks like a project turns into a franchise QB is nuts. All these QBs other than Pickett have giant flaws, and while Pickett is arguably a first round guy, he still has questions marks.

I'm just not a fan of doing something when there's a lot of evidence it won't turn out well.

What can I say, it was obvious there was only one QB with a first round grade.

Really happy the Saints didn't reach for a QB. I'm surprised that NO team reached to draft a QB!

Now if the Saints want to go after a QB today or tomorrow, I'm fine with it.

I don't think it's worth wasting a pick at this point considering we gave up a 3 &4 to move up. We should focus on rb or te and depth.

Im with you. I'm not asking for a QB but the value is there now. That's the only thing I'm saying. Id love to be able to come away with a safety and a RB because the value is insane for both of these positions now, would love to trade down for picks in the third round.
