The Chess Thread (3 Viewers)

I played pretty well back in High School. But not "I have a chess ego" well. And it is definitely like a muscle, I could see the obvious difference between when I was playing a lot and when I was doing other things a lot.
They have lots of options for playing Go online. I just hate playing against someone who's way above my skill level because they're so good I don't even understand their strategy before the game's ended lol. Maybe I should just go back to playing Chess. I'd gotten good enough to win against someone who's about the same skill level as me and even get beaten - just not dominated - by players who are clearly a cut above me. I only stopped playing Chess when the person I used to always play with moved to NYC five years ago. Playing Spades is one of my favorite games - especially when you play with your partner a lot and know how/what to play based off how/what they're playing.

Spades is an absolute blast. I used to play a ton on some platform (yahoo maybe) until I found out how susceptible it was to hacks. I was helping raise two puppies a long time ago, a boy and girl I nicknamed Poop and Pee for obvious reasons. I had some pictures of them saved on my computer under those names. Anyway I'm playing one day and the guy tells me in the game chat "poop and pee are cute" The puppies had long been adopted by that time so I'm just thinking "ok, lots of perverts online" It dawned on me a few hours later what he was talking about and I was done.

My 10 yr old son has become addicted to chess over the past three months. Chess.com does offer lots of good options for him. He can play rapid, blitz, daily and also do puzzles. It seems to do a good job of grouping people by talent level. His coach just had him open a lichess account. I don't remember why they went that way, because they had been using Chess.com, too. I do feel safe letting him play games on Chess.com because he isn't having any interaction with his opponents at all, other than the game.

who else had one of these bad boys from good ol Radioshack. This looks like the exact model I had. it was actually pretty good for a Radioshack product

I still have mine. And it still beats me on the more difficult modes. :covri:

breakdown of yesterday's match

crazy that even the best player in the world will still miss a winning move sometimes

I subscribed to agadmator a while back and really enjoy his channel, in fact I cannot play chess without hearing his voice in my head when I am making a move or analyzing.

lol same here

"and here, white is winning the game"

Racist. :hihi:

FTR, I am a certified USCF TD, although it was so long ago I'm sure it's expired. To which I rarely admit.
