The "come clean" thread, dish out and eat your own crow (1 Viewer)

I will gladly partake. I thought we were a 3-5 win team. I never liked DA as a head coach and thought, like many, that he was a deer in headlights.

I will say that I did have one sliver of hope going into the season and that was that it took a DC to make Sean Payton win a super bowl/become competitive. I thought that just maybe the same could happen with DA getting an OC. I only thought there was 2.5% chance of that actually happening though.

I've never smack talked Carr - never thought he was the main problem. But man, I've been a DA doubter. I really hope he's a big part of this turnaround and that I was wrong. So far, the offensive coaching turnaround has been huge.

I have to eat crow on DA comments I made saying he was not a leader of men. The other I have to eat crow on is dissing Carr. I criticized him for never winning a playoff game. I apologize to both people. Now let’s move on. Who dat!!!!!

And especially STOP IT with all the “fire DA anyway and promote Kubiak” nonsense, that’s what a bad franchise would do. If this continues, we hope to give Kubiak a raise.

Dennis Allen is the head coach

He is not going to be demoted to defensive coordinator

Stop saying it
I totally agree! The magic is in the alignment we have now. Everyone's in the position they need to be. History tells us great coordinators don't guarantee great results nor does other opportunities with other teams guarantee success. Be thankful, lock Clint down long term and Let's enjoy the show.

in preseason

i said, 40-60% of our oline are unproven or not good players (penning is the biggest surprised of weeks 1 and 2 to me)
we have no TE (johnson healthy, saints have him and moreau now)
WR depth is weak outside of shaheed/olave (still true, saints gotta stay healthy)
I didnt think Carr would have more than 2 seconds to throw.

our star players, jordan/davis/matheiu are old and their play will dwindle
lattimore always hurt (was in camp/preseason and already is in season, its becoming yearly now unfortunately)

but i severely underestimated kubiak and a good offensive scheme.

i predicted a W vs panthers, and 2 L's for cowgirls/eagles

ill GLADLY eat my crow on this. i said 6-11/7-10 before the season. now i'm cautiously optimistic itll be those numbers reversed.

My two swings and misses have been criticism of the Saints OL and not having enough talent (overall) to truly compete.

The OL is playing well above expectations. Congrats to KK who is putting his people in a position to be successful. Also, hats off to the OL coach who I'm hearing is a great mentor. Seems like he has done a great job with Penning.

As for talent, we obviously have the starting depth to compete. We'll see how it goes if we need to dig deep. Thankfully, we've stayed relatively well so far.

OK, dish up your own. To hell with your "hot takes" that appear to be wrong. Hating Allen and Carr for the sake of holding on, hoping you wil still eventually be proven "right" isn't the right path. Enjoy the season and root for your team!
I'll eat a little crow, just KEEP IT UP!

Still only 2 games in but I will gladly eat crow if the OL continues to play like it is and DA continues to improve like he has.

I thought Loomis was an old past his prime executive whose notoriety was directly tied to Sean Payton’s football knowledge . I’m thinking now what you see is Loomis taking the reins and telling Allen to work on defense, get a life coach to show more confidence when you speak and I will call you when I have picked a offensive coordinator.
When he said things slipping the last few seasons was on him he was telling the truth and it was trickling down to the team.

It's only been two games but anytime is the right time for an all you can eat crow buffet I guess.

I didn't have a lot of faith in Penning moving to RT. Not as the opening day starter at least. I wanted an insurance policy there.

I've defended AK but even I thought he might've lost some juice. It's just as I suspected, the Saints were simply using him wrong. He hasn't had any room to work, few weapons surrounding him, and suspect O line play. So I'll eat that bite of crow while patting myself on the back. We were right about Pete. He is who we thought he was.

I was concerned about our Safeties. They look 2 legit 2 quit.

What I was wrong about:
DA winning the team over and his plan coming together. I was very critical of him since he go the HC job and figured we are delaying the inevitable by keeping him this year. He doesn't try to be Payton and be part of the dance party. Says his business and moves on. Starting to have some respect for him. People grow and change and maybe DA is finally putting something together. What still needs to be proven is his ability to win the late game chess matches that will be coming.

What I was right about:
AK wasn't done. Bad scheme and system is what held AK back in recent years. Felt like he was making more business decisions rather than fighting for extra yardage. Now that he's in a good system and getting space to work, he can turn that extra gear on again.

DC not part of the offense's problem. Not saying he's free of any blame for the slow start to the offense last year, but similar to AK, he wasn't holding us back as much as the system was holding him back.

Kubiak would be enough boost to get us back in the playoffs. At 9-8 last year we were a few plays away from being an 11 win team and in the playoffs. I thought Kubiak would give the offense enough of a boost to improve the team by 1-2 wins. That might've been too conservative!
His success with the offense will keep the defense fresh and healthier throughout the year. Complimentary football.

You should be ashamed Nature Boy, we all knew they would be the talk of the NFL.😳

Where is the "I told you so" thread? (not specifically, you, saint_drago, just in general) because I was dumbfounded by the Kamara talk. It just didn't make sense to me when we knew 1.) the line play was awful 2.) Carmichael was using him totally wrong. Even still, with everyone in the building knowing exactly what the call would be, Kamara still managed to look impressive on many runs last year. It was totally, totally not his fault. We all could see it and knew it. Yet, we somehow didn't believe it. Kamara has been the same guy this whole entire time.
