The High Ceiling/Low Floor QB prospect that is probably our best option in the draft: Malik Willis(And some Sam Howell) (5 Viewers)

I mean.... His personality and mental make up screams elite coachability with his elite physical tools.

I think if he falls to the perfect situation. He can be a gamer.

Freeze system is really hot garbage.

The main knock against Willis is the OC would have to develop a system around him just like the Ravens did with Lamar. He’s not going to come in and fit a West coast timing style offense like Pete runs. Sean didn’t even try changing up the offense for Taysom which is one reason he wasn’t that good. IMO Willis’s ceiling will be Micheal Vick and floor Akili Smith.

His ceiling is more of a lite Russ Wilson.

I love his energy and personality. I wasn't the biggest fan of his tape(I didn't like the offense, or his rawness) , but after listening to him speak with such humility and always sounding like a sure fire leader that is always team 1st. He got a lot of intangibles that I love to see.

At the end of the day.. Do you believe we have the coaches to push him to reach his ceiling?

I know the Saints think they do. They did it with Davenport. They were I know they can do it with Willis. He needs a year, tho.

Have you watched any of his games. I watched 2 and all I saw him throw is either quick slants or 50/50 bombs along the sidelines. No reading defenses, no going through progressions, it was either throw quick or run and that was at Liberty against other menial teams. He’s a physically gifted player just like Vick. Very fast, quick, and a very strong arm. But his accuracy isn’t very good and if he can’t read College defenses he sure won’t be able to read NFL defenses.

I watched every snap.

I think you should go look at Russell Wilson College stats.

He's not a Vick type. He's like this weird hybrid of Russ and Vick. He adamently wants to be a passer, but Hugh offense got him playing pop and go.

He's just very unpolished compared to Russell out of college with more athleticism.

The player that's really Michael Vick is Lamar Jackson. Willis has better arm talent than Jackson, day one.

If they think they can develop Winston after 7 years in the NFL, they think they can develop Willis. Willis looks to be a really good prospect for a team that just signed a stop gap QB. I know the class next year will be better than this one, but I just like this kid.
I think there is always atleast one or two good QBs in a draft. It's super rare for there to be a complete dud. You just got find him and develop them.

Nick UnderHill feels it's going to be Draft a WR or trading up for a QB.

It's pretty exciting and it's a lot less stressful, because when I think of the Saints. They got an elite scouting department except during covid. They clearly going for high upside/meduim floor guys. I trust them a lot.

Lack of interest by the Saints?

I don't think Dennis Allen would really fit in there.

I never seen Pete on the scouting trail.

Probably handled by our scouts.

I know we are really used to seeing Payton at these events, but I don't think it translate to interest. For what it's worth..Willis been having interviews with the Saints.
