The Jets are now pretty much in same situation Saints are in...and I love it (1 Viewer)

RexJet was pretty cool. I'm not going to get on the fans after their team got whupped.

Wow...Mike Greenberg just said the Jets have only beaten one winning team all year.

In recent past the Jets have been one of my most hated teams, mostly because of their cocky coach always talking like his team is the best in the league and the fact that
I've thought they're team was overrated. Now the Jets are 9-3 like us, one game behind the Pats in the division. Plus the Pats lead the tiebreaker due to their win over the Ravens. The Jets lost to the Ravens in the opening weekend.

Anyway, the situation we are in currently sucks (facing a No. 5 seed in the playoffs if we get in and playing on the road throughout). It's good to know one of the media's darlings possibly could finish 13-3 and play on the road throughout the playoffs as well. Hopefully if this happens to the Jets, there will be a bigger outcry from the media to change the seeding rules in the NFL so in the future we don't have a 13-3 team travel to a 7-9 division winner in the first round of the playoffs.

The Saints may or may not finish 13-3, but I can almost guarantee that the Jets WILL NOT finish 13-3. Both the Jets and Pats have similar schedules the rest of the regular season, but with their offense the Pats are much better equipped to handle it than the Jets are. The Jets should beat Miami and Buffalo (both at home--but they lost to these two teams at home last season), but they are in for tussles at Pittsburgh, and at Chicago. The Pats play at Chicago (coming up this weekend--should be a great test for Da Bears) and at Buffalo, and have Green Bay (a true test for the Pack) and Miami at home.

You might be a Jets supporter, and that's all fine. I might respect their fans, but I root against their team because it's fun to see cocky people fall flat on their face like that. Anyway, what about the possible positive impact on playoff seeding rules if the Jets finish 13-3 or 12-4 and are on the road throughout playoffs?

There is none. No more than it happening to the Saints (or Pats for that matter).

You're equating "media darlings" (of course they are, big market) with "the league cares about them more". I think the competition committee, or whoever decides these things, has to look at it this offseason, but I don't think any changes get made.

The discussion will revolve around two wildcards in each conference having better records than a division leader. I don't think it'll matter WHICH teams are involved. IMO.

Disclaimer: Personally, I think division winners should be in, but seeding should be done by record.

Totally agree about this. However, I disagree that media darlings don't have greater influence on the media and NFL than do small market teams like the Saints. You think if Matthew Stafford, and not Tom Brady, had torn his knee up from that low hit by the Chiefs player, the NFL would've changed that "no hitting a QB while on the ground" rule?
