The Older I get the Less I Can Stand Teenagers! (2 Viewers)

I have realized that I failed in my attempt to get whatever my drunken point was across and for that I apologize. I did state opinions as facts, and I hate it when someone does that, so again, my apologies. I stated it before, but they need to make a smiley that is eating crow. I don't think that applies here, but I would use it if it did.

no apology necessary - it's a message board and your takes on the subject is not uncommon at all and I think it's actually what this thread is beneficial for

and for the record, about 7 years ago when me and my friends were 25 - and I was teaching high school - all of my friends were complaining about you 18 year-olds :ezbill:

Meh. You're doing fine. We're just having a message board discussion. No worries.

I like my teenagers grilled, with a nice chianti. :a-table:

Don't forget the fava beans.

A guy I work with was raving about this today and it made me think of this thread.

Glad I was able to find it.

Any opinions change one way or the other?

It would be interesting to hear from those who were 16-19 at the time. Now that they are 5 years older I'd be curious to see what they think of teens now.

What do you think? Are today's teens better, worse or the same (obviously speaking very generally)?

I think yes to all 3. I've met alot of very exceptional motivated and inspiring teenagers over the past few years.

I've also seen some of the most infuriating teens imaginable (for some it's just a 'teen thing' to the Nth degree and I'm sure they'll grow out of it. Others have future inmate written all over them) and everything in between.

I think the same thing I thought then. I'm sure that there are lot more "good" teens than bad, but the bad ones seem to just just stick out so much more.

All I know is that our son is about to be one. :covri:

I didn't read the whole thread but the two main things that strike me about the current generation of teens are:

(1) Smartphones! The kids are all hard-wired for full time multitasking. This leads to social habits that can be offputting to older folks, who, for example, get cheesed off when a well meaning teen doesn't seem to be paying full attention to them. Does anyone know how to focus on one thing at a time anymore?

(2) Worrying about college, especially for kids with aspirations to top schools, is so much more terrifying now. I have a lot of sympathy for young folks on this front. They have to work so much harder during their high school years than I did, tuition is insanely more than it was then, they have to cope with this confused era when college can routinely take 5 or 6 years, and then they have to confront the reality that there are no guarantees when they get out. I see even younger teens--kids just a few years older than my son--already worrying about this stuff.

I'm not a people person to begin with, but teenagers really suck ***.

.

Doubt you hear anything from those 16-19 year olds, they were all banned.

Nope, I still think you are a pretentious ****** bag.
