The Science of Fasting (2 Viewers)

Wouldn’t want to get your blood pressure up. But I guess after being familiar with yourself, the newness/excitement is gone.

triglycerides at 235
Cholesterol at 216
all other labs are within normal range
now what?
Gotta increase fiber intake, maybe (or in my case definitely) reduce alcohol intake. The Cholesterol number is not as concerning as the Triglycerides. I has similar numbers about 2 years ago and went "vegan" for about 6 months and my triglyceride number is now below 150.

You gotta eat low fat, and make sure it's "good fats" and stay away from "bad fats."

Eat more fruits and beans, and less cow.

Worked for me anyway.

Or they can write a prescription for a pill you take daily.

So that’s the thing is I do most of this already
No alcohol, no cow, beans, fruits
A bit too much sugar/simple carbs but that’s really the only bad thing I eat
Is it possible for those numbers to spike in a short time? I’d been locked in a theatre all day for 3 weeks- diet wasn’t the best then

I think Guido is a teetotaler.

I was today years old when I finally saw that word in writing and the meaning dawned on me. Even having been one for almost 8 years - I still thought it was an English thing, like someone who preferred tea over coffee.

Just a shade under half a century, can’t get nothing past me.

yes actually, 3 weeks of reduced exercise and increase in processed foods could spike your numbers, but not more than 10-15%.

Beef (and fats) were vilified starting with purposefully flawed studies paid for by the sugar industry back in the late 60s. This study shows that there is no real difference between chicken and beef for cholesterol and triglycerides...at least no measurable difference in the short term (for what it is worth, I do try to stick to pasture raised, grass fed beef)

In November of last year I weighed 258, my numbers were bad, had high blood pressure, and was diagnosed with a fatty liver. Doing (healthy) keto, keeping processed foods to a minimum, and doing intermittent fasting as well as some full on fasting had everything back to normal in March including the fatty liver and I have been holding steady at about 190 pounds since April or May.

I basically feel like Dr. Sten Ekberg on youtube gave me the Rosetta Stone of weight loss and health. Of course I realize that we don't know all there is to know....could be that there are genetic variables that make one 'diet' work better than others for individuals, but the latest research is really confirming the benefits of healthy keto (as well as the Mediterranean Diet). For some reason, I don't gravitate to chicken that much....more beef and salmon than anything else

I have been dangerously ignoring this thread. Read: I HAVE BEEN EATING TOO MUCH SUGAR. This is one of my favorite u tube channels. This isn't about fasting but since fasting IS kinda all about how the body works, Imma put this here. It's science!!

And this video is a good accompaniment to the same subject:

you forget i live in a 3rd world state
i've actually tried to steer my wife away from mostly wine consumption to edibles - it's been a process
I just got approved for medical marijuana and the process is a joke. I didn't have to provide one scrap of evidence of my medical issues

I’ve done 1 to 2 month keto diets before with no problem. Started up again 7 days ago and I feel like I have the “keto flu” for the first time.

Head feels dizzy. Fatigue. Sense of feeling cold. Strange. They say it’s temporary.

Edit: very good chance I’m sick.
