Opinion The the Saints offensive line has sidelined 4 to 5 starting Saints QBs in the last 4yrs. (1 Viewer)

It's probably a combo of picking the wrong linemen plus coaching.

What's worrying is the refusal or failure to see this was an issue. So many #1 picks and so many QBs hurt. The same process that gave the Saints Dennis Allen at HC instead of Doug Pederson may be blinding decision makers as to the OL (and frankly DL) problems in the draft and maybe coaching. You'd have to admit that hiring and supporting your friends' choices might have been a mistake. Too many are vested in wanting to believe that mistakes have not been made.

And Yet we pick a lineman in the 1st round every year.
This, for all the great work Irland has done, it seems like we waste picks on both sides of the line. Dav, Ruiz, Peat, Penning, etc.

This was my question last week, but some pointed out that it's a league wide issue. After today's game, it's definitely coaching.
I have no formal data on this, but it truly has looked bad for a lot of teams this year. My friends who are Giants and Jets fans hate their OLs. From what I saw of the 4Q of PIT-CLE after our MNF win, PIT was chasing Deshaun into Lake Erie.

2023 O-Line = 2017-2022 O-Line.

The O-line has been average, at best, ever since Aaron Kroemer left the team. They don't have any synchronicity in their play and they don't have a lead dawg on that line...

I was coming here to say, a long absence for Carr is better for him if we don't fix this oline. It's atrocious.

Remember how we ALL knew that the DC Garry Gibbs and CB Jason David were the problems in our team and we celebrated when Gibbs was fired and David was cut? And instantly we were MUCH better and won a Super Bowl that season?

Well, it's the same with this oline. They ARE the weakest link on this team. And we will suffer in turmoil and mediocrity to downright sucking until that is ameliorated.

Derek Carr was hit and pressured WAY too much and it was consistent for 3 straight weeks.
The o line is this year’s Jason David for sure

Drew made our offensive line look far better than it actually ever was during his time here. Guy absolutely refused to get sacked, and his legendary ability to not only sense pressure but know where all eligible receivers would be at any given moment made some of both our past and present offensive lineman a ton of money.

This is somewhat true. The playcalling/run game was so much better when he was here though. Also i dont recall many games of him not having a clean pocket to step up into. I dont know if he would have made this oline look good. There are like 3 guys in the backfield half the time. No preparation can beat that.
