There's a QB in this draft who's not being discused that will be better than the guys drafted ahead of him

I like McCord a lot more than the scout sites apparently. I could see him drafted as high as the 2nd round. I think he is the best pure passer of this class.
I have not been impressed with Ewers. When watching Texas games he missed several easy throws. I personally couldn't make those throws but should have been fairly easy for him that is.
That's a name that keeps popping up, and when CKM was first hired I started seeing draftniks refer to Syracuse QB McCord as the "perfect fit" for CKMs system. But I don't understand WHY someone says that? CKM has coached Dak in Dallas, Herbert in SD, and Hurts in Philly. That's 3 VERY different style QBs in 3 different offensive schemes, and NONE were picked under CKMs watch. I don't think anyone KNOWS what CKM WANTS in a QB, if he's picking from "scratch."

I'm just posting on the tail of your post because it seems like you've done a lot of watching of these QBs and seem to know a lot about them. Certainly more than I do. All I know about McCord is that he transferred from OSU to Syracuse; is projected to be drafted around the 3rd round; and he's "perfect" for CKM. And only 1 of those things is a FACT, the others are hearsay.

But I'm interested in YOUR opinion(s). What do you see that you like? Obviously you like him as the "best pure passer" of this class. In what ways? Completion percentage? Accuracy? Reading defenses and anticipating open receivers? Big arm for deep balls and fade routes? How are his "wheels"? Does he run? Or is he at least "escapable" and can extend plays with his legs? Or is he pure pocket passer? What are his height/weight measurables? Is he "prototype" in stature, or another "smurf" QB?

My mind is open, and ready to be educated. Sell me on why McCord should be wearing B&G in 2025. And thanks in advance for whatever you share!

Moore never has gotten to pick his "ideal style" of QB. He's always worked with what the HC or GM wanted. Dak was Jerry's making. Herbert was Staley's. Hurts was Sirianni's QB. Moore just made all 3 work. That's a great thing and shows how Moore is capable of tailoring a game plan and scheme to his QB's style. But as to what style he prefer's? Who knows. I tend to think he likes Herbert/Dak's style a bit more then Hurts. But that's just speculation.

He may even really like Carr's style. The cool thing is, we don't know. We can speculate but that's all anyone is doing right now, even the media. But we should find out in the next month to two years.

But McCord is much more of a pocket passing QB. Intelligent, instinctive, quick release, good arm strength and accuracy. McCord is a lot like Herbert but has some of his own growing pains to go through, one of them being learning to not stare down receivers and look off safeties (which is by far his biggest flaw currently that I spotted).

Seems like the Saints are doing a LOT of homework on QBs for this draft, widely considered to be "weak" or "average" at best. We KNOW they've interviewed Ward, Sanders, and Ewers (possibly others). We KNOW they sent a large contingent (including CKM) to Ward's pro day in Miami. We KNOW they're hosting Ewers for dinner. Read an article yesterday about Jaxson Dart and a coach at Ole Miss (can't remember the name....wasn't the HC) who commented something to the effect that "Saints have done a LOT of homework on Dart". Saints are notoriously tight-lipped, so this is only the tip of the iceberg I believe.

I understand due diligence and trying to be prepared for all options presented, but I'm not enamored with any of these QBs. Especially Ward or Sanders, for varying reasons. Ward will cost too much to move up; and I don't think Sanders will stay in NO beyond his rookie contract. And Dart and Ewers both are less "complete" than Ward and Sanders, IMO. I'm hoping NO QBs at #9! After that, I suppose the right QB with the right pick is fair game. If CKM likes a QB, who am I to disagree? If CKM thinks he can fix flaws, tweak mechanics, and teach their brain how to process available info, give the HC and de facto OC what he wants! His tenure is riding on it!

OR....is due diligence the cover story, and our QB interest is fake? Most can agree, DC4 days are numbered. Not the problem, but not the solution; and too expensive to NOT be a solution. That leaves Rattler and Haener. Or does it? All this interest in 2025 draft QBs isn't inspiring confidence that CKM sees something worthy to work with. Or maybe this is the new strategy....draft a mid-round or late-round QB every year, and develop them as best as they can be, making the Saints a QB factory like the Packers and Patriots were in the 2000s and 2010s?

One thing is for certain. We've got a new player at the poker table, with no history, trends, tips or tells...at least none that can be discerned. It's going to be interesting to get a read on HIS preferences. Can't wait....tired of speculating!

I think this show's he's doing his due diligence on QB. 1 thing I can promise you, is that he's not just doing extreme investigations on this drafts QB's, he's also looking at game film of QB's that are supposed to be in next year's draft and comparing. But I am convinced that theres a high probability he'll either pick a QB in this draft or the next to lead this team going forward. Sorry Rattler fans. The writing is on the wall, and he ain't it.

This is the earliest they’ve picked in almost 20 years, I’m sure they’re hoping it’ll be the earliest they pick for the next 20 years, and they have a clear need, with Carr looking likely to be gone after this season.

If they were ever going to draft a quarterback early, this would seem to be the year they’re positioned to do it — and naturally for the Saints this is looked at as a weak year.

With Ward almost certain to go 1st to Tennessee, and the Giants now looking like the current favorite to take Sanders at 3, I do wonder if the Saints might say “fork it” and take Dart at 9, or if they’ll stick to their board (assuming they won’t have Dart as BPA) and wait and take someone later.

Jalen Milroe, if drafted by the right team with the right system and supporting cast, could be a big time weapon.
Jalen is an exceptional athlete. I think many project him as the possible next Taysom. I agree. I don’t think he’s a full time QB.

To the OP.

I think Cam is the real deal and would love to have him.

I think Sanders will perform below the #2 QB taken.

Other shave mentioned Dart. I’m mixed on him.

Tyler Shough is a guy to watch. He could surprise.

Shough might have a higher floor than some others. Can you believe he was Justin Herbert’s backup for TWO years at Oregon? That’s how long he’s been playing.

QB Tyler Shough is a 6 year college QB who has been humbled by fate. (Covid season, Justin Herbert starting at #1) But he’s got champions & is a good athlete… running a 4.6 forty at 6’5” 220.
