Things That Make You Feel Old (1 Viewer)

But a lot more advancements and life style changes happened between 37-80. Besides cell phones, technology and social media, what really changed between 80 and 23...?
You missed the obvious roll back of many of those life style changes from 37-80 happening in 80-23.

Where does Wynton Marsalis rate for you?

OMG, hilarious.....my friend did alot of work at St. Charles Vision in the late 80's....I was waiting for him to get off work one day and in pops Wynton, I was already a fan and I typically don't engage celebrities but said hi and we immediately started talking about music.....He's not just a jazz fan, he also loves fusion and prog.....I thought how cool is it that Wynton loves Yes, Genesis and many of the other bands that influenced me....he was one cool cat IMO....

You’ve mentioned this friend before, yes?

I’m sure I’ve told the Wynton story plenty of times , but his band and my company shared a translator in Buenos Aires- long story short we played a basketball* game together (then invited them to the club we always went to after show)

BUT the most impressive part of meeting him was we got to go to a rehearsal- his drummer got caught up in customs and he had to audition a new drummer for the show that night- the one audition we saw he showed the drummer ON THE DRUMS what he wanted, then went to every dang instrument and showed drummer how to interact with each instrument
Dude played like 6 different instruments for the auditioner

* Wynton can ball

When you realize that people who were kids when the Star Wars prequels came out (and loved them!?) are the same age now we were when the prequels came out (and rightly recognized them for the garbage they were)

I don’t know why I thought it was 1985 when I was 9 years old. Like many kids, I was forbidden to watch anything R rated, but I remember the teenagers talking about it seemingly all day, every day. I didn’t see the movie until I was 15.
I was forbidden to see any R movies as well but I was lucky enough to have a flaky cousin who would take us. One Saturday she came over and picked up me and my buddy in her ‘69 Mustang fastback with the 289 and 4-speed.

A true flower child, she lit up a joint on the way to the theater to catch a double feature “don’t tell your parents or we’ll never get to do this again “ Tom’s dad was a Baltimore city cop.

The movies? Bonnie and Clyde, and Bullitt. I think we were 11 or 12 at the time. Tom was head over heels in love with her :hihi:

Shirttttt, just waking up after 40 leads to pain. At least a couple times a month, I wake up with a random pain and, literally, all I did was sleep. Not sleep funny, not get into a kickboxing match, nothing. Just sleep. How the fork does that happen?
Children please…

I’m 63, and it don’t get no better I can tell you :hihi:

Wait till sleep doesn't exist anymore.
I would happily wake up in pain.
