NFL Draft This is A Great Draft for the Saints - all 7 picks (2 Viewers)

Same for those who say "GREAT draft." We will see.
Well , I for one, would like to have a looong talk with those who call this a “GREAT draft” n why!!!

Hell, at first I thought even dat 2017 draft class was “GOOD”, but not “GREAT”!

BUT it only took 8-9 games r so for me to change my mind about em!!!

😢🤣🤣😂

That said, there ARE some similarities between the two classes. Like in ‘17, in this draft, the Saints took players who they felt were BPAs who ALSO addressed their needs! They drafted players who were talented, VERY athletic, with high football IQs n were captains/leaders on their teams.

AGAIN, all I wanted outta this draft was for us to find players who could come in, compete n contribute right away as rooks!

Barring injuries, I think this group can do jus dat! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

We’ll see!

This is turning into an absolutely great Saints draft...

1 - Bryan Bresee - DT - He is athletic, very smart, has long arms and great size and size potential, a quick 1st step, is naturally strong and powerful, and has a high upside.

2 - Isaiah Foskey - DE - He is athletic, very smart, has great size and length, has a great 1st step, is already a good pass rusher, and high upside.

3 - Kendre Miller - RB - He has awesome balance and lower body strength, is very smart, has good vision, has quick feet, and has a high upside.

4 - Nick Saldiveri - G - He is smart, athletic, has great length and feet to play T or G, has ideal size and size potential, can play anywhere on the line, and has a high upside.

4 - Jake Haener - QB - He is very smart, has a quick release, is accurate, is athletic with great pocket awareness, has good to very good arm strength, and he has a high upside.

5 - Jordan Howden - DB - He is very smart, fast, athletic, has ideal size, and has a ton of experience at both safety and corner. He has 49 career starts in the Big 10.

6 - A.T. Perry - WR - At 6'4 and 200lbs, he was generally predicted to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick that we get in the 6th. He is fast, smart, athletic, and has a high upside. His drops dropped him down most boards. Pardon the pun. He is literally a steal.

This is impressive.
Curious if you posted an equivalent message after last year's draft? Not judging you, but just interested in your review / reaction as this does sound overly positive even to a bunch of Saints homers as your audience 😁

I did not. I didn't even come close. I thought and still think Penning was a reach. I still see him as a Guard. I loved Olave, but I didn't want to trade up for him at the time. Looking back I might have been wrong on that. LOL. I liked Alontae Taylor a lot, but I saw him as a 3rd round pick, but I still liked the pick. I thought D'Marco Jackson was a ok to solid pick, but there were better players on the board. I pray Jackson will become a good back-up this season to replace Ellis. And Jordan Jackson was an interesting project, but he was not going to play as a rookie - if at all.

In this year's draft, I would've taken a different O-Lineman at the beginning of the 4th, but Saldiveri was a great choice. Howden and Perry were great picks that are far more than just projects.

Which OL would you have gone for at the top of the 4th?

I had Jaelyn Duncan and Braedyn Daniels rated higher. But, Saldiveri can actually do more - be more versatile. Duncan could play LT, RT, and guard. Daniels could play RT and guard. Saldiveri can play all 5 line spots. My biggest issue with Saldiveri was strength, but he uses his strength well - he just needs to get stronger. If Saldiveri can get stronger in the lower body, he has a great chance to be a very good player.

Miller is a much better overall back. Achane was a 185 to 190 speedster that would bring limited value other than on 3rd down.
I can agree that Miller is a better early down prospect, but I am looking at the 3rd down weapon that Achane is. I think getting a quality back for 1st and 2nd down is not really that hard. Achane brings special special skills for 3rd down though.

Cool, but you have to understand (and really, everyone needs to come to grips with this potential reality) that Kamara may have played his last down in a Saints uniform.

Interesting take....probably from a similar perspective as mine, but I'm not sure I think this...YET.

I'm recognizing Kamara's age, # of accumulated hits in his seasons played, salary, and production last season. he's on the back 9 of his career, but I can't say if last season was an anomaly or just the beginning of Father Time catching up to Kamara. He's almost certainly going to be suspended for a chunk of this season...which may, ironically, extend his playing career just a little.

What makes you think he may have already played his last down in B&G? Not looking to argue with you, just genuinely wondering how you extrapolated to that position? and simultaneously acknowledging that you MIGHT be right, and just the first to see it?!

He's facing a felony charge and has given two different testimonies to police, the second of which basically contradicted the first where his position was that he acted in self defense. I fear he's not just facing 6 games, but an entire season or an indefinite suspension given the way Goodell's been doling them out lately. I think the performance and heart are still there, but last season was rough on all the RBs. IIRC, his cap number also gets out of hand after this season.

Gotcha. yeah, if Roger suspends for a year, then I could maybe see that happening. I still think we have 2-3 good seasons from Kamara, but if one of our younger backs starts showing out in Kamara's absence, I can see your scenario playing out as described.

I was thinking a 6-game suspension, but it's Roger and it's the Saints, so I can see what your saying.
