NFL Draft This is A Great Draft for the Saints - all 7 picks (1 Viewer)

We keep him. If you are on a playoff push and your starter goes down, your day 3 draft pick QB might step in and get you to and through the party (see Brock Purdy), but I don't think you can go into the season with that being your plan. Now if Haener comes in and shows out? We could trade Winston to a needy team.
I understand your reasoning, but one less player on our 53 would hurt. With our medical issues year in and out I just can't see wasting a spot for our 3 QB. Emergency in game situation where Carr gets hurt and then JW as well, Taysom would come in. The next game would be a different matter.

Haener will NEVER see the practice squad. He will be picked up the minute he's on it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, teams just can't swoop in and snag other teams PS players can they? I thought they had to make them guaranteed offers and then put them on their 53's for a 3 game minimum.

Excellent work @draftfreak. I agree this was a very good draft for our team that could work into being a great draft.

Maybe would have taken Drew Sanders in the second or traded up to get him.

Otherwise filled a lot of holes. Let's not forget the free agents we will sign that will make the team. Generally 1-3 per year.

I disagree. These are great, quality, and dependable picks. All of these plays will make the team and heavily contribute over time. We couldn't ask for much more.
This was a strong draft. Better than some of Sean’s dare I say. Everything is lining up for the Saints to contend. The other NFC teams did work as well. Ain’t gonna be a cake walk

While I also like our class you're looking at this through some serious black and gold glasses.
True. We reached on the DE but I think he is a good prospect. I am excited about the guard, I think he is a baller. I did not love bresee or the rb from tcu but I am sure the front office knows a whole hell of a lot more than I do.

Without my prejudices I would grade this draft a B minus. In time that will change and hopefully for the better.

Pumped for udfa and 2nd free agency.

I’ve lived long enough as a Saints fan to say, I’ve watched a whole lot of these draft weekends. What sticks out to me right now are a few things;

1) This draft, for whatever reason, fell our way! We have multiple positions needing reinforcements, and we drafted some great prospects!
2) The constant trading up in the early rounds (1-3) seems to, in the end, just create more havoc and long term problems. No doubt that’s just my opinion, but this year we stayed with our assigned pics and everything seemed to flow much better.
3) I have no way to know this, but it just seemed like our entire scouting department was a cut above previous drafts. Time will tell of course, but feels like they left no stone unturned and we’re confident throughout the process.

I understand your reasoning, but one less player on our 53 would hurt. With our medical issues year in and out I just can't see wasting a spot for our 3 QB. Emergency in game situation where Carr gets hurt and then JW as well, Taysom would come in. The next game would be a different matter.
We ALWAYS have guys on the 53 that don't play. Stashed players and other weekly inactives. With the new practice squad rules, we can keep plenty depth. As much as anyone else can.

With the exception of Haener and Perry, this was a Bully Ball draft. 3 trench guys that are 6'5" or taller and another sub 6' 220lb RB. The smallest RB in the top 4 on the roster is Eno and he's over 200. DA is looking to skull drag teams by beating them up on the line and locking them down with his stable of DBs.

Haener is a QB who does not throw INTs, this is what our Coach wants. So he is going to be backing up Carr pretty soon, as soon as next year. Jameis will be forever destined to be a backup, just like Teddy Bridgewater currently is.

This is turning into an absolutely great Saints draft...

1 - Bryan Bresee - DT - He is athletic, very smart, has long arms and great size and size potential, a quick 1st step, is naturally strong and powerful, and has a high upside.

2 - Isaiah Foskey - DE - He is athletic, very smart, has great size and length, has a great 1st step, is already a good pass rusher, and high upside.

3 - Kendre Miller - RB - He has awesome balance and lower body strength, is very smart, has good vision, has quick feet, and has a high upside.

4 - Nick Saldiveri - G - He is smart, athletic, has great length and feet to play T or G, has ideal size and size potential, can play anywhere on the line, and has a high upside.

4 - Jake Haener - QB - He is very smart, has a quick release, is accurate, is athletic with great pocket awareness, has good to very good arm strength, and he has a high upside.

5 - Jordan Howden - DB - He is very smart, fast, athletic, has ideal size, and has a ton of experience at both safety and corner. He has 49 career starts in the Big 10.

6 - A.T. Perry - WR - At 6'4 and 200lbs, he was generally predicted to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick that we get in the 6th. He is fast, smart, athletic, and has a high upside. His drops dropped him down most boards. Pardon the pun. He is literally a steal.

This is impressive.

Great draft and a great summary. Maybe AT Perry can attend some Michael Thomas hand yoga classes to strengthen his grip.

I think the draft went VERY well. But we don't need the penning davenport injury bug biting us again.
