This Is The Result Of Changing Expectations (2 Viewers)

I was in the stands.
The Saints crowd was toxic.
This sorta season could fly in ‘02, but the fanbase will not buy it.
It’s time for the Saints to let go of Dennis Allen.
Draft a QB.
Work toward 2024.
Lot of boos, specifically whenever Carr came on the field for the first several series. I may have been a part of it lol

The booing of Carr was disgraceful !!
I have never seen a Saints player treated like this in the Dome.

Not Danny Wuerffel, or Billie Joe Hobert, or Billy Joe Tolliver,
not Aaron Brooks, or Steve Walsh, or even Jim Everett,
maybe a little like this for Heath Shuler and Bobby Hebert in the play-offs,

Then again, the people who were booing probably never heard of most of these guys,
they were spoiled by Drew Brees and they expect that level of excellence.
A Drew Brees is hard to find !!!!

Derek Carr chose us, he is a 4x Pro Bowler, I know you don't, but trust me, he is one of the best QBs the Saints have had. Plus, these same fans booing Carr mercilessly will be the same fans asking how come free agents won't come here.

1 last question, Why is Cam Jordan beloved ?
117.5 sacks? His whopping 647 tackles ?
He sacked Matt Ryan 23 times?
He was a member of some of the worst defenses in NFL history!
These defenses counteracted Drew Brees greatness.
See, Beast Mode, Vernon Davis, Minnesota Miracle, the No Call, etc etc ...
Yet, Cam Jordan is cheered !

BUT, Derek Carr after 11 games, has got to go!
I am not saying he is the greatest, draft a QB, cool.
that said, as a fan base, we should not treat players the way we are acting toward Carr!

I know its been said 1000x now, but SP/Drew have set a new standard for this franchise for the foreseeable future, if not until the day this franchise no longer exists. I started cheering for this team around the mid 90s and this season woulda almost have been a blessing around them simply b/c just to be simply in contention for the division was enough for a lot of us back then, but right here, right now? This is unacceptable, this is, by far, the worst division in football...yet your inept coaching staff cant seem to get these players to play at their capacity...the QB you brought into to put you over the hump, while at times has shown flashes of brilliance here and there, for the most part has been an unmigrated disaster of a signing. Our defense seems to be regressing, especially b/c of injuries...but if you look at the Bills, for example, they have lost as many (if not more) starters on defense as we have, yet they continue to play well regardless. You cant use injuries as an excuse at this point of the season, only the bad teams do.

i didnt go to the game, but i woulda boo'ed as loudly as anyone there...this team is a disgrace lately, especially considering their schedule up to this point. Many will say the most disappointing team in the league will be the aforementioned Bills, but anyone that truly breaks down the games and compared our schedule vs theirs (especially factoring in that our division is much worse competitively than theirs), i think the team thats the most disappointing is ours.

I hate the rebuilds and everything it encompasses, i dont like "wasting" seasons, but at this point, besides blowing everything up and starting from scratch, what can we viably do to give us hope in say, 2~3 years down the line? A firesale has to happen with this team.

Payton/Brees allowed you to reimagine what was possible. The “standards” they set only applied to the time they were in the building. All this talk about “our standards are raised” is absolute nonsense. They’re not here anymore, and they’re not coming back. It’s long past time to face the music on that, y’all. That’s a Hall-of-Fame QB and head coach that departed. They have not been replaced by Hall-of-Famers at their positions, but the teams that even have one such player/coach have at most three HOFs in those roles. This team has regressed a bit, but the bottom has not come close to falling out and long-term fans of all people should know better than to equate this time with those times.

All the gloating I’ve seen about selling tickets to rival fans, showing up with bags for your heads, booing the quarterback, and so forth is embarrassing. Other fanbases (including one division rival that doesn’t have a message board presence anymore) read these whiny posts that do not require an account to view, then go on other social media and mock y’all.

Terrible take.

The team is going down. Change now or the bottom will fall out in a couple of years and after the bottom falls out there is no coming back. We need full rebuild now, before it gets to that point.

Who’s not coming back? The team, or the fans?

If it’s the team, they won’t be under it forever. The league is designed for teams to not stay down very long.

If it’s the fans, fans always come back. Fans came back after Ditka, they came back after Mora resigned, they came back after Haslett, they came back after three straight 7-9 seasons. This doom and gloom that nobody will cheer for them again is misplaced.
