Titanic submersible es morte (7 Viewers)

This made me think about an episode of Extreme Rescues that I saw where a Chevron boat had capsized in the Atlantic. They were finally able to send divers down on a “recovery” mission to bring the corpses back up for burial. They ended up finding a guy alive in there who found an air pocket. It was really incredible. If you get a chance to watch the show on Hulu, I recommend it. Here’s a YouTube clip of when they found the guy.

You have enough money to drop a quarter mil on a Subnautica fantasy adventure, I'm laughing at the orca memes 🤷‍♂️

But I mean we're still using public resources to bail out rich people on this one for the ten thousandth time. I'll never understand the go to bat for rich people instinct and hope I never do.
"The greatest trick the rich have ever pulled of in the US is convincing poor people it's their own fault they're poor" Slaughterhouse 5, Kurt Vonnegut

I'll add that the rich also pull off the trick of convincing the poor that it's not the fault of the rich when the rich fail. How slick is that? "It's your own fault you're poor, but when I make bad choices and become poor it's not my fault and you need to bail me out" This occurs by nothing more than having the good luck to be born into a rich family or the bad luck to be born into a poor family since economic mobility in the USA is at an all-time low.

I don’t know how to figure it out but I would bet the vast majority of EMS calls in the US goes to poor. Someone broke it down before on how much rich people pay in taxes that goes towards the EMS and how often they use it.

I think you are pushing a different narrative that what he means. He is basically saying to live your life everything is dangerous I think.

I assume it’s over right? I have read on a few places that oxygen has run out. I can’t say I am incredibly surprised. I have done some dangerous stuff for fun but this would not be on my list.

They did a poll on Michael Smirconish’s page yesterday (I think it was there) about a choice between going into outer space or the bottom of the ocean, which would you do. Like 80% was outer space. Meanwhile I am looking for the choice of I would 100% do neither. That movie where the woman was floating around in space just made me feel panicked.

If we're looking at just numbers then yes, I'd agree. Because there are many more disadvantaged folks in the USA than privileged folks. The privileged hold a vastly disproportionate share of the wealth, however.

That choice is like putting agoraphobia and claustrophobia into a room and letting them fight it out :hihi:

But this guy let people pay $250,000 to go 2.5 mile s to the bottom of the ocean in a submersible controlled by a $40 video game joystick. Where he draws the line with safety falls to the level of irresponsibility.

The NHRA, NASCAR, F1, NFL, etc all have much more stringent safety regulations for enterprises that have been around for over 100 years, and yet they don't pretend to have all the bugs worked out.

All of the above said, and all other posts aside, I feel terrible for the people on that submersible. No one should have to go out like that. I can't imagine, and won't try to. Blessings to them and their families.

One of the management people in our facility said this ordeal is the work of pirates. Pirates. Yes, pirates in the north Atlantic shipping lanes. I asked her where she found this tidbit, and she would not reveal her source but she's convinced it's true.

It's gonna be a long day....

Underwater pirates who left the drop off (or whatever it’s called) ship alone. Seems reasonable.
