Would you laugh at memes making fun of the kids who died in Uvalde as a "coping mechanism"? An extreme example but gets the point across.



Oh, not a high horse at all. I am merely pointing out that this person is laughing at some people's tragedy simply because they are rich (whatever rich means). And that is the type of person they are. And rather than be honest and say "yes", they try to turn the tables on me. I never said I was better, or "shame on you", or made any holier-than-thou statement... just that this person is the type of person who laughs at the tragedy of others because they are rich, which this person freely admits.

BTW, the orca memes aren't funny, not because they are offensive or cross a line, they are just not funny.

The Uvalde children didn’t intentionally put themselves in a high risk situation and sign waivers that the first page alone mentioned possible death 3x. Nor did those children pay $250k to lock themselves in a sinking tomb that had no regulatory oversight of its safety. They aren’t comparable.

It’s a horrific way to die and sad for their families. Yet there was a lot of recklessness and stupidity involved with those running the operation & those willing to take that risk. So yeah, I’m laughing and making jokes while still acknowledging that the way they died is tragic - yet avoidable.

I am going to reply about this one more time, and that's it:

I am not comparing the events; what I posted was a commentary on "humor as a coping mechanism"; not that we don't use humor as a coping mechanism, but that there are personal limits as to what is tolerated.

I know it was in bad taste to bring that up, and unfortunately it didn't drive the point, although it proved it.
