I’ve probably mentioned this here before, but young MBS had my first date in the eighth grade to see this movie.. it is still my second favorite John Hughes movie of all time.. I think that it is criminally underrated compared to the 16 candles and breakfast clubs …. As for the date, my aunt chauffeured us, we went to Bennigan’s on Veterans Blvd first, I can still remember that the bill for the three of us came to $28.13.. then down the street to Lakeside Theater - not to be confused with Lakeside Cinema- and saw SKOW…. The girl and I wound up being boyfriend and girlfriend for most of that year, but fast forward about 35 years, and she now prefers the company of women…. Can’t say that I blame her !

Was that the Bennigan’s that became “Shenanigan’s” for the filming of “Waiting”?
(right around the Metry/Kennah line)

Ive never seen the movie but im familiar with it and i remember it being filmed circa 2004 or so.. but no, i believe youre correct that the Bennigans in the movie was on the Ken-Metry line but the one i was referring to was further up Veterans towards Causeway, i believe near the intersection of Severn and Veterans, not far from the Lakeside Theater.. not sure if that Bennigans building is still there .

I applied the same day at that Bennigan's and Friday's right down the street.

I think you know which job I took.

Oh that’s right, i think youve mentioned before that you are a Fridays lifer, right ? it’s been a while since that came up .
Not quite a lifer, but it felt like it.

8 1/2 years between two locations (picked up shifts at 4-5 others) and all front of the house positions and one back of the house.

I always get that one confused with Bright Lights Big City which MJ Fox did around the same time…. Very different films but i believe both had an NYC setting and featured Fox as a wannabe yuppie.. i think it could be argued that there was no bigger movie star in the country at that time than Fox.. Harrison Ford and Cruise and Schwarzenegger were constants, but Fox and i would say Kevin Costner a couple years later were both as big as any of those other names , albeit for a shorter time period at the very top .
