Today in Movie & TV History (4 Viewers)

Burt Reynolds is another one who had a shorter, half decade run at the very tippy top of the movie world, in the late 1970s/early 1980s.. then MJF mid-late 80s/early 90s.. then Costner late 80s/early 90s…. It’s a strange phenomenon, that 5 or 6 year run where then it sort of fades whilst others remain on top for several decades .. John Travolta is the only one i can think of who had two such runs- first late 70s/early 80s.. then mid/late 1990s .

Travolta went dormant and re-emerged
John Ritter was on the verge of something similar
Henry Winkler immediately started playing against type casting and has done fairly well
Jason Bateman, John Cusack all had/have steady careers

I was referring to actors who were/are known for (primarily) film .. no one is a bigger fan of John Ritter than i am- but his star power never approached any of the actors i mentioned in my post, at any point in history …. Bateman’s unusual b/c he was so well known as a kid/teen actor, esp on tv- but now mostly for being in movies .. Cusack’s been in some great movies and is kind of iconic (though it seems that everyone these days is “iconic”)- but never was he at an A list level, though it’s defintiely arguable that he should have been.. maybe he was just too quirky .. Winkler is the nicest guy in Hollywood, but again- gun to my head i could probably only name one or two movies he ever did .

I’ll forgive your ‘the one and only erasure’
But NIGHT SHIFT?!?

Can’t believe we aren’t feeding tuna mayonnaise yet…

I actually attempted to watch Nightshift once, but it was literally decades since it had been released so i had a hard time getting into it… Never saw Waterboy, i think the only Adam Sandler flick ive ever seen is Punch Drunk Love, which i enjoyed .

I guess this is Today in Movie history.

The movie is 1941, and the subject is Wild Bill Kelso, (John Belushi), or as it turns out a real Marine Captain named Everett Yager.

He turned up in real DNA history, he was a real person. Here's his photo:

That's Wild Bill Kelso alright, and he did fly off into the crazed distance in California toward the end of the movie.

Some kid found his jaw bone after he crashed his airplane in California. The crash happened in California, but his jaw bone was found in Arizona. They're blaming a bird for having flown it across state lines.

Probably a Cuckoo bird.

Just me, or does it look like someone used a pic of Belushi and slightly modified it ?
