Hell I didn’t know they were married. Was he even a real captain?I'm almost sure I posted in the TIL thread the day I learned that Toni divorced the Captain in 2014 when she was 73, five years before he died.
Of course not. Came from his time as a keyboardist with The Beach Boys. Mike Love called him Captain Keyboard and for some reason, Daryl Dragon went with "The Captain" moniker. I loved Captain and Tennile as a kid (saw them once at the casino in Waveland where Silver Slipper is now when they were still performing together 30, omg, years ago) and went with the idea that they were a happy romantic couple who just loved performing their music together. When she divorced him and explained why, NONE of that was the truth. It was quite a revelation to take in.Hell I didn’t know they were married. Was he even a real captain?

I don't think there's just as many miserable marriages. I think there's MORE miserable marriages.but in my experience, there are just as many miserable, just-for-show marriages as there are happy, fulfilling marriages .. maybe more….
Wow! I love that movie!I know this isn't exactly in line with the content of this thread...but this blew my mind over the weekend. I've seen the movie "Real Genius" dozens of times. It's one of those movies that if I'm flipping channels and come across it, I'll immediately stop and toss the remote down.
I never knew that Tom Hanks made an uncredited cameo as an extra in the film. As Mitch is leaving the Dean's Freshman tea (where he receives the great advice "always....uh...never...forget to check your references), he turns to leave, and Tom Hanks is standing behind him talking to someone.
